I received my absentee ballot in the mail the other day.

Hasta la vista,... somebody. Or, I sure hope so.

The deadline to register to vote in the November election is October 18 (in California). Must be at least 18 y.o. by election day.

Oh, and it's Double-Ten today. Must be a big thing in Taiwan. The SF Double-Ten parade took place last Saturday. I used to participate in it through my Chinese school. Baton girl! Back then, the parade took place at 6:00 p.m. These days the parade begins at 11:00 a.m.

yes voting is a basic human right and one so many people don't take advantage of, go fig?

Why is the day called double ten?  (I know it is the national day for ROC but just wonder about the name, wiki doesn't go that far)

I honestly didn't know about Double-Ten, that's been quite interesting for me to learn this morning, google's a modern-man's encyclopedia.

It's a lot like the vote in the UK, where the Conservatives and Labour are the only ones we notice, I hadn't even heard of the other names on this ballot! Shameful of me.

You bet I'll be voting.  I'm counting the days until that current chump is out of office.

Yay for Double-Ten.  Celebrate Taiwan.  I hate when they call it Chinese Taipei.

You're lucky in California.  A lot more days to register.  Here in Pennsylvania the last day to register was this past Monday, a little less than a month to election day.  But there was a real surge in registrations.

Lots of issues though, in a lot of states, about voting machines, voting rolls, what you can wear to the polls, all kinds of BS designed to disenfranchise people.  That makes me mad.

Like they say in Chicago, vote early and vote often!  j/k
