Such a Good Sam my Mr. P.

Mr. P was driving on a city street with a mind on reaching the bank when he saw two Hispanic men emerging
from a busy retail parking lot and running out into the street.

He noticed a distressed Asian man and woman, and a few other people chasing the Hispanic men who ran madly to the next street over and boarded a waiting SUV. The truck sped off down the street, running a red light as it made a turn into cross-traffic.

Although Mr. P wasn't exactly sure a crime had taken place, he followed the truck to get the make and license plate number and noted which direction the truck was headed.

He returned to the scene of the crime and noticed a police patrol car already there. He dutifully provided as much detail as possible to the policewoman.

Mr. P had forgotten to turn off his mobile phone so I was privy to his conversation with the police officer. They discussed for nearly 20 minutes.

With the other witnesses' descrīptions and Mr. P's identification of the get-away car, I hope the assailants will be located (fat chance, though).

What was the crime? Mr. P has no idea. The police officer kept the witnesses separated so they wouldn't discuss with each other. Perhaps the victims were robbed at the ATM since many banks are in this area.

It isn't very often you become a witness to a crime in progress and are able to provide assistance to law enforcement. Good job Mr. P!

P.S. I hope others do what they can if they find themselves in such situations instead of turning the other cheek.

Calling him a hero is quiiiite the stretch. haha. It's not like he interfered or tackled the baddies. If he did than I would call him insane rather than a hero. =)

I was in Oakland visiting a friend once and her now ex-husband was driving me home when he saw some drug dealing going on at the corner (this wasn't the first time either). As we get into the car, he calls the police and proceeds to drive by the scene. Needless to say, I was scared as hell and just wanted to get out of there. These people eventually caught on that he was snitching on them and started threatening him, so they had to move out.

Wow!! Mr P is a hero. And he remained calm in such a situation when most would be left standing wondering what to do next. Three Cheers for Mr P!!

Mr. P is such a good and civic minded citizen :)  We need more people like him in the world.  I would try to do the same thing if the opportunity arises.

i applaud Mr. P... very couragous and rare for someone to be kind enough to the police and society to help fight crime..

it disappoints me whenever people turn their heads when they see someone being beat up or mugged.. or they just stop and stare..
