  • Flip or Slide?

The time has come to pass where my
obsolete mobile must be tossed by the wayside.
At issue now, with all mobiles being equal,
is to embrace a unit that I flip or I slide.

    Built-in wifi is all-important, for there's Blast
Texting is not my game, begone Blackberry
Oh, what's that symbol of gadget status?
iPhone, restricted and overpriced, ciao baby

Old phone, you've served me long and well
All your functions, I've learned your ways
I won't let you down, I'll make you useful again
MIL* will value you after her first mobile daze

When old mobile has been bequeathed to her
She'll find its functionality quite above POTs**
I think she'll be lucky to figure how to dial out
As I predict user-error and confusion and lots

I've never had a flip, I've never operated a slide
I've owned one large and heavy, akin to a brick
This gal's ready for a unit that's sleek and thin
A smartphone so sexy one will desire to lick

    * Mother-in-law
    ** plain old telephone

My current, old phone is a one-piece - flipping or sliding. It's so convenient! Gotta pick out the new one in the next couple of days. Too many selection!

I have a flip but I think the slides are more modern and easier to use.  Have you seen the LG Venus?  It's pretty nice.  Of course I want one cause it comes in pink :P  I really like how you wrote this blog :)

I love the way you wrote this. I'd like to help but I'm still on my old Sony, non-slide or flip. I think the only grumble I have about flip phones is that they are easy to break.

    I'm leaning towards a slide.
I once had this boss who had this Motorola flip and it was annoying the way he'd "slam" it shut after every call. That's what the sound of flip phones remind me of - that obnoxious VP.

I love my slide phone, but if you're wanting sleek and thin, you're probably better off with a flip. One of the directors at work got a Nokia N95 (I think) recently, which is cool, cos it slides two ways. One way for the keypad, the other way for the video functions. And when you slide for the video functions, the screen flips to landscape, until you slide open the keypad, then it'll switch back to portrait.

I have a flip...it's small, but next phone most likely won't be a flip. I want to be able to answer the phone easier...it is a great poem...perhaps first I've read since HS. LOL!!!

    great poem!
i would say flip. having a flip phone protect your screen from being scratched and protects from random numbers being dialed when u forget to lock.

but that's the practical side of me...

i'm using a slide...and i can't really stand the sound of the flip as it smacks back onto the screen while closing.
