It's a tradition in some parts to visit a farm during the weeks leading to Halloween. So, this falls some time in October.
I had the opportunity to visit a farm that was featured twice on David Letterman and boasts a 1-acre corn maze that looks like this from the air:

Up close, it looks like this. Eek! Right? A 12-foot tall, living barrier.

Up closer still, the maze makes people look like this:

I tried not to show my consternation. The hat and shades did a good job hiding the anxiety. How am I supposed to escape from this place???
All those corn stalks reminded me of the movie Signs by M.Night Shyamalan. Seen it? Good film.
The corn used at this maze isn't for human consumption. Apparently you can grow different type of corn that's used primarily for animal feed. Darn, couldn't have free corn on the cob for din-din. haha.
After a little time of negotiating those corn stalks (can you say cut through them to freedom?), I was confronted with this greedy fellow.

I made some appetizing sounds with my mouth and lured it to stick its head way out. Unfortunately, I had nothing yummy to give him ('cept my fingers). He was such a big goat with a soft nose. His neighbors, 2 donkeys, 2 sheep and a pregnant cow, totally kept to themselves.
There was an attraction of a sand box filled with big corn kernels instead of sand. Yeh, I kinda dislike the sandy-ness of sand. I determined it would be safer if I didn't flop around in the corn box. I might accidentally strike one of those adorable, little kiddies.

Gourds. What are gourds? Can you spot the one that resembles a papaya?

Finally, I made it to the neat pumpkin patch, I found the PERFECT pumpkin. Not sure I'll carve it. Heaved it onto my wagon and pulled it to my car. A nice day at the dusty farm.
