Still remember picking up the discount album in HMV when I was 13, it changed my whole perception of what music can be. As a boy grown up in hk, all I knew was pop music singing love or die all day long, and I never realize there are some much wiser musical phenomenons out there until I hear DJ Shadow. From the first time I listen to Organ Donor, I was hooked and since then I listen to every album from this man, Unkle album, Private Press, and The Outsiders.
I really like the idea of sampling and mixing different people's stuff to create your own thing. I guess because it is so DIY to me. Its not about being professional or expert at something, but trying new things and being inventive to get your creativities across. I know that his last album Outsider wasn't exactly sample based, and that is why I sort of feel that there is something miss in the album. It sounds too crisp and clean which loss the raw and roughness of sampling. I know hes trying to new stuff, and i believe that even it doesn't work this time, it doesn't mean he won't blow me away again in the future.

This is a illustration of "6 Days", where the lyric goes "You could be sitting taking lunch
The news will hit you like a punch"
