Today was rehearsal day for the first 23 dances we will record for the kids show I am currently doing. Last week we were in the studio recording the songs, which I have no problem with as I can sing. the only problem is, I really cannot dance. The last and only time I did a musical theatre production I had to stay twice as long as the others to get the moves down, which I eventually did. Friday will be no different. I need to summon some serious Lionel Blair ju-ju.
It’s times like this that an actor needs to keep reminding himself that it’s important to be able to dance, and that he is learning valuable life skills for his trade, rather than focusing on the fact that his two left feet have tied themselves together and the last move he attempted has left him face-down on the floor with his arse in the air. Not the intended move, I might point out, I was only supposed to pirouette.
