  • Have DREAMS and live a life with NO REGRET!

    Kung Hei Fat Choy!

In the Spring festival, it may not be a good time to talk

about “death”, but let us face it: we are all born with

the inevitable destiny to die, right?  So, why waste

any time and not live every minute of our lives to the

    fullest - to LOVE; LAUGH; CRY; LEARN; THINK;

PRAY and to REACH OUT FOR OUR DREAMS!?

Following is a video of the 47-yr-old Prof. Randy Pausch

who has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer

and was told in August 2007 to expect a remaining three

to six months of good health only…

On September 18, 2007, Prof. Pausch delivered his

"Last Lecture", entitled "Really Achieving Your

Childhood Dreams", at Carnegie Mellon University.

This talk was modeled after an ongoing series of

lectures where top academics are asked to think deeply

about what matters to them, and then give a hypothetical

"final talk", i.e., "what wisdom would you try to impart

to the world if you knew it was your last chance?"

Personally, I found this a very positive and uplifting life

story that is worth listening to.  The video is 1 hr 44 min

long.  You may skip the introduction to save you some

    time.

Once again, may I take this opportunity to wish everyone

a HAPPY, HEALTHY & SUCCESSFUL Year of the

Rat full of LOVE and DREAMS !

  • Wonderful Swiss Fashion and Music!

    Friday, Jan 25, 2008 1:10AM / Standard Entry

On January 15th, 2008, my company, GIG GREATION, was proud to be the official video and stills production house appointed by the Swiss Consulate for the SWISS HONG KONG FASHION NIGHT event.

Before that, I didn't know that Switzerland produces these amazingly beautiful fashion other than their wonderful watches!

It was absolutely amazing to watch BLANC DE CHINE's fashion show live!  Their clothes are simply so BEAUTIFUL, ELEGANT and STYLISH but I didn’t know that the fabrics that they use are all from Switzerland too!

But the highlight of the evening for me was to meet a very handsome, sweet and talented musician from Switzerland called Nicholas Senn.  I have never seen anyone perform traditional Swiss musical instruction before.  BTW, the musical instrument played by Nicholas is called Hackbrett. It was such a wonderful performance by him and it was extremely delightful when he performed together with a Chinese musician!

Thanks to the Swiss Consulate for bringing Nicolas to Hong Kong or else I wouldn't have had the honor and joy to meet him in person!

  • PASS THE CHEER with Eugene Pao's Live Jazz

    Monday, Dec 31, 2007 1:02AM / Standard Entry

This afternoon, I attended a very enjoyable and meaningful charity function at the IFC.

I didn't know that for the past 20 years, Hong Kong's English radio channel, RTHK Channel 4, and English newspaper, SCMP, have jointly and continuously organized an "Operation Santa Claus" to raise funds for those small and unnoticeable organizations that need help in Hong Kong.  This year's beneficiary is the Kwai Chung Youth Centre and the sponsor is Starbucks Coffee.

I guess the funds raised would not be too substantial even though the campaign had started at the beginning of December.  They are targeting to raise HK$200,000, but whether they can reach their target amount or not, I still think it is a good cause and a good act to try to raise people's awareness to those needy and less privileged during the festive seasons.  I agree 100% with Jet Li's theory that if ALL OF US would contribute just a dollar to help the poor, the world would have a lot less poverty...

And of course, the most enjoyable part this afternoon was to sit amongst old and new friends and listen to Eugene's live jazz music! He and his buddy Mike were simply MAGICALLLL!   It was like having a massage to your soul!  Here are a few pix to share with you  (Oh, on the way out at IFC, I bumped into Marsha Yuan and her sister as well.  I'm so glad that she is having a happy family reunion in Hong Kong right now! )

  • THE HEDGEROW'S SHRILL

    Sunday, Dec 16, 2007 1:03PM / Standard Entry

    THE HEDGEROW'S SHRILL

    In quietness of time
    near waters edge
    the day with songs
    and love to pledge
    past like shadows
    over serene hills
    of sweet hedgerow's
    broken shrill.

    To find life's gentle space,
    to celebrate life's simple grace
    is to earth and friend
    like road's bend
    amongst more hedgerows still.

    Across fertile valley
    ploughed and new
    we walk with spring
    just numbered two
    A distant hill
    knowing still
    good life exists beyond
    the hedgerow's shrill.
