  • Shaw Studios, Magic Buttons and Kids!

    UDATE:

Team in Toronto building one of our new websites.

Doing some comic book stuff at the lounge above my pad. Love hangin out there now - I get much done there and they serve wine and food late at night!

Currently using Pilot 0.5 pencil PRO eraser and Wacom Pen.

Time to go to Celestial to do some more film testing. This time we're going to use the old SHAW Cinema to check them out.

Here is the old SHAW Studio building. It's kept so well and still being used.

Sitting in an ancient theatre room in Celestial - really old school. There was this really interesting button - looked like something from Roger Ramjet and I wanted to click on it but I wasn't sure if I was going to blast off my chair - so I pretended. @_@

Check out this ancient camera they used to test out movies @ Shaw Studios. This thing still works!! Was good to see some animations shown with this old camera. Looking forward to testing out the new RED Cameras @ Shaw. Should be fun.

Next stop was @ the Hong Kong Society for Protection of Children.

Had a wonderful time hanging out with some kids there illustrating some cartoon sketches for the them - it was nice to put a smile on the kids faces as most of them have been abandoned or come from rough homes. The kids were really cute when they surrounded me wanting some artwork. :) There was one that was really cranky and when I drew a picture of an orange for her she got super happy and excited. Perhaps some of these children will end of being comic artists lol!

The kids wrote back a Thank You letter to me before I left - cute huh?? This is going to stay on my fridge! ;)

Here are some 3D Animations I Directed and Co-Produced.

  • MCL & Intercontinental Animations

    Friday, Sep 19, 2008 5:51AM / Standard Entry

    Hey everyone,

Here are a few animations I directed for MCL and Intercontinental that can be seen in the theatres before you watch a movie in the cinemas. Thanks to the animation crew who sweated blood in dealing with my details and direction - you guys rock! Here are the videos:

This first one was for Intercontinental Film Distribution. They gave us alot of flexibiity in coming up with the creative concept for their logo - so we came up with a spinning cyber globe projecting rays of red light. The toughest part from this one was trying to figure out what we wanted to do with the background and trying to put alot of focus at the end with the final logo. Too many logos come out being black at the end and we wanted to try something a little different. The music score was done with live symphony which was one of the most important things for us to do when doing these type of animations.

I had alot of fun doing this one - If you haven't seen this in the theatre yet this is for the MCL Logo and we felt it was important to give it a family element to it. Originally the Archer was suppose to be silver, but you know... We didn't want it to look like silver surfer. It appears to be a little dark in the opening and gently becomes softer at the end. Enjoy. Originally the concept was suppose to be alot darker, but we made a little lighter in style. Again, this was original symphony score.

Thanks to DRUM Music who did a fab score on the music and gave it some humor and sfx - this was probably the most fun I had out of all the animation pieces. This was done for MCL and the storyboards came to life on this one. More comedic, simple and straight to the point.

It's been really fun Directing these animation pieces and looking forward to doing some live action.

Dope it's late!! Time to get some sleepage. Peace all!
