  • Shopping can be therapeutic, sometimes . . .

    Saturday, Oct 10, 2009 12:07AM / Members only

yeah, shopping can be therapeutic, even if it meant getting a book !

love this book...got it fr MPH bookstore ~ is a "must-have" for those who loves travelling...it provides a very detailed guide for places to visit  from Jan to Dec month and some tips on Dos & Don'ts ~ overall is an interesting and informative book !

Travelling has always been my passion...i even thought of applying for an air-stewardess job when i was 18 so that i could get to travel round the world for free...but it never happened...haha:)

i worked very hard in my 20's to save for  holidays...But, i must say i'm truly very blessed by God in many areas of my life...these are some of the places that i've been ~ Vancouver/Toronto, South Africa (Johannesberg/ Cape Town), Europe(London,France, Italy, Switzerland), US (LA, Vegas, Grand Canyon, SF, NYC, Seattle, Washington,Florida), Australia, New Zealand, Israel,Egypt,Jordan,Beijing/Shanghai/HK~

Because of the nature of my job that involves a lot of planning, somehow, my holidays are being planned as if i'm planning for my work...There are some other places that i wish to go next  ~  Brazil / Peru/ Iguacu Falls,  Eastern Europe, Spain/Portugal,  Santorini (Greece), India  and Canadian Rockies...and when i get to go Canadian Rockies, i would definately love to stop by again at Vancouver to meet up with Jac !...and perhaps to visit  Finland as suggested by Elle.

So, what about u ?... what's your  "DREAM VACATION" ???

I got some other lovely books too as well by Joyce Meyer...i love it cos is small and light and is just nice  for me to put in my handbag...these are really good books ~ very inspiring !

i got some other stuff as well over the long weekend two weeks ago...

just can't resist anything to do with dogs~

...i usually love to carry big bags but i kinda fall for this petite one...a denim with red leather flowers and strips ~ love it !

and i picked up a vest and a shirt  2 days ago, while attending a work conference at a convention hall that linked to the shopping mall, love such location for conferences cos it can made my day... (thank you Jac, your Vest Blog entry has once again inspired me ~ used to like vest a lot in my 20's )

    ...oops and some earrings too.

i guess, is nice to pamper ourselves sometimes ! ...

  • i finally met her !

    Monday, Sep 28, 2009 11:06PM / Members only

For the past 5 months, i've been waiting for this opportunity to approach an old lady...and i finally did this morning.

Every morning when i drive to work , i would pass by this busy road up a hill that leads to a row of  shop lots before taking a turning  to the highway... Not only the road is busy but is very steep.

Some mornings i would see this old lady pushing a black old bicycle with a huge stainless steel box on the seat  but she is always on the opposite side of the road that i'm driving.  Looking at her pushing down her bicycle from the steep road really breaks my heart...is tough, no joke...there are times, i saw her stopping at the road side panting and catching her breath...i don't think i would be fit enough to do what she does everyday, my knees will probably give way...The first thought that came to me when i first saw her is ..."why didn't her children care for her"...i was angry...but then i told myself , lets not be judgemental ~ perhaps, she doesn't have any children.

I would say a prayer for her each time when i see her...and one day, as i was driving, i prayed to the Lord to give me the wisdom. I told God, i just can't pray for her and not do something about it and this morning, the Lord answered my prayer...The minute i saw her, before i could even think, i pulled over and guess what, being a super busy road, there was no car at all...i was really surprised !  it has to be God !...i waited and she finally arrived...she stopped and i walk towards her and try to make some small talk~asking what does she do for a living. She then opened the huge stainless steel box cover and inside the box are some "oil-fried devil" (yau char gwai and "ham chim ban"or literally means some kind of chinese doughnuts)...i bought all the left-overs from her just to make her happy...i then began to chat with her and within 10 mins, she shared all her pains and sufferings that she went through...she has 5 children (3 sons, 2 daughters) but none seem to care for her and asked money from her instead. She is 77 years of age and the youngest son who's  mentally retarded stayed with her...i can understand and relate to her situation cos i do have a mentally retarded older bro too, which is not easy to handle at times...The worst thing is, she doesn't even have a roof over her head...she used to live in the squatter area until some government projects took place...and now she's without a home but she said a friend allows her to stay at her house without having to pay any rental ~ what a good Samaritan...She earns only about RM15 a day by just selling these doughnuts and having to push her bicycle up and down the steep road 4 times a day (once in the early dawn and once later part of the morning)...that even breaks my heart further hearing that....immediately, I offered to find her a job, i.e a tea lady in the office or at least a much lighter scale job but immediately she turned down my offer...i was disappointed tho...but i don't blame her cos she doesn't even know me...but i won't give up on her either...i guess, i need to build rapport with her first in order  to win her trust and friendship.

Well, as i was running late for my meeting this morning, i had to end the conversation...but before i left, i shared with her about Jesus and she told me she has accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and she shared how the Lord has help her all these while and see her through each day and her customer has been fetching her to church every Sunday...woah, i was sooooo happy to hear dat...well, at least, she's assured of her salvation and will be in a much much better and bigger home next time with no more sufferings...The Lord Jesus has been so real in her life...Thank God for His Great Love for each and everyone of us...His Love truly Endures forever !

What a great morning to start on Monday !!!

  • Laughter . . .

    Friday, Sep 11, 2009 9:23PM / Members only

I came across an article today in a magazine while waiting at the hospital for my mom's routine check up. Thot it would be nice to remind ourselves to laugh in the midst of our busyness and stresssss at work.   It says...

Laughter promotes good health, both in body and spirit...It not only brightens your mood but also eases tension.

A good dose of laughter has been shown to...

    improve blood circulation,

    stimulate digestion,

    lower blood pressure,

and prompt the brain to release pain-reducing endorphins.

...and i remember too reading from the Bible  ~ " A cheerful heart is a good medicine" (Proverbs 17 : 22)

woah, i'm glad my dogs, esp the black one makes me laugh everyday...

    Cheers to good health !!! ~ LAUGH, LAUGH, LAUGH and LAUGH . . . . . . .

May u always have something to laugh about !

The starfish and pearl necklace sounds really nice :-) I know what you mean, I keep reminding myself too, but somehow I get carried away and start buying stuff. It's esp. bad when it's online b/c it's so simple and easy and just click away. I have to have more self-control.

Oh, chunky watches sounds like fun! I was looking for one for a while too but haven't come across one that fits me or that is within my price range. An early Christmas gift to yourself sounds nice ;)

Do you have a lot of Christmas gifts to buy?

Hope you have a blessed weekend! ^_^

    Hi Pammy,
No worries about replying late, I kind of thought you were probably very busy.
I find that's what happens a lot these days, the movie trailer is better than the movie, or they show all the good bits on the trailer then when we go see the film, it's a let down.

Guess what? I bought 2 necklaces and 1 bracelet online yesterday. I can't wait for them to arrive. They aren't too expensive too :-)

TGIF! Hope you have a wonderful one and a wonderful weekend! ^_^

Hi Pammy, long time no see.
Sorry for late reply, yep, no excuse, just lazy.
Something else to do, just like I'll participate a large group show on Thur, however, have been confirmed a few days ago! Will try to keep my blog update... but neither my website till now... too bad.
How are you, my friend? What are you up to now?

Thanks Pammy :-) I used to be super camera shy when someone took my photo, but recently less so. Hopefully it gets better with more practice, hehe. I'm going to try to post a fashion blog every week if I can. Hopefully I can still take photos outside b/c the weather has been pretty dark and rainy recently so hard to shoot outside.

    Hi Pammy,

My weekend was ok, was quite busy and am sad to be back at work today :p How are you doing? Is your flu all over now?

It takes around 3 hours to drive to Seattle from our house to the outlet. That's not counting the border wait. That day, we waited an hour to cross over to the border and another 1.5 hours on the way back.

I haven't watched 2012 yet. Is it good?

hi, Pammy. sorry for being slow to answer your question. "shochu" is japanese alcoholic drink with a long tradition. is made of spirits distilled from fermented rice, potatoes, wheat or the like and retains some of the original flavor. it contains more alcohol than sake but pay less than sake. haha

Hey Pammy!! I will definitely check out your photos. I'm jealous.

With the pain in my shoulders I talked myself into thinking that was all I could do. Actually I think it was the haze the meds placed on me.

Thanks for sharing Pammy about your favourite pillow. Do you still have that pillow today? I think as young kids, we all needed something to help us sleep better, and hugging a doll/pillow was definitely very helpful :) Esp. if it has a familiar scent :)

    Thanks Pammy :-)
I quite like wearing the CD glasses too, they aren't as heavy as the ones I had before and don't cause huge dents on my nose.
I went down for a day trip to Seattle yesterday with hubby and friends, it was fun :) Got more shopping done but they were all super good deals :D Got a pair of Dr. Martens for $49.99 USD :D

I have finished packing away my clothes. It was a huge task but I did dig up some clothes I forgot about. Now I just need to find a day to iron them. I can't say I'm a fan of ironing, sometimes I feel I spend time ironing, then after one wear my clothes get wrinkly again. Do you feel the same way about ironing?

    Any plans this weekend?

I'll definitely let you know if I go to HK in the near future. I initially had plans to go to HK/Taiwan before this year ended but doesn't look like it's happening just yet.

I've never travelled alone. I'm afraid to travel alone to tell you the truth, I'm one of those people that are not good with directions even in my own city, let alone, a foreign city I know little about. Before, I've just mainly travelled with family, that's about it. And once my friends and I went on a road trip to Portland to do no-tax shopping, LOL. That was quite fun too.

How are you feeling today? Are you all better? I cleaned part of my storage room today, kind of feel proud about doing that, and got some stuff organized, found some clothes that I thought I had lost LOL. Also found two toy playdoh sets for my niece and nephew that are practically new :)

    Hi Pammy,
Glad to hear you are feeling better :-)
Wow, Spore and HK in December, that's so fun. :D My good friend and her family are going to HK in Feb and even now, she is counting down the days already, we all look forward to vacation ;)

I don't have vacation plans this year b/c still saving up for a car (I'm thinking something Toyota now b/c it's more affordable maintenance-wise) and we're also planning to upgrade our TV :D

Wow, thinking about it, you'll be going next month :D I'm so excited for you!!! Have you been to NZ before? I heard it's so beautiful there.

    Hi Pammy,
How is your flu now? Did you go to the doctor to get it checked out? Take care and please remember to drink more warm fluids. A lot of friends at church are also sick, my friend and her hubby has been sick for over a week and today they were still coughing like crazy :( Hope you feel better soon.

My weekend was quite busy, my uncle and aunt came from Calgary and we met up with them, then today had dim sum with hubby's side of the family. Then went home to do housework. I'm off work this week so looking forward to being able to sleep in.

Did you take days off work b/c you're down with the flu?

glad you like Japanese food, i like to eat the local cuisine. for instance enjoyed dishes from Kagoshima last night, including char-grilled chicken, stewed pork in soysouce and shochu, made from potate and a kind of distilled spirit.
