  • Never in my dreams as a little child did I ever think I would come to live, work and play in Hong Kong. Born in Canada to Chinese parents, I moved here in 1994 and worked as an architect for 4 years before pursuing my greater interest in photography and art. Having published my second book themed and titled 'The Asian Male', I'm set to continue and explore all things that make this Universe as diverse and interesting as it is.

A small collection of images that I quite like taken in the rural countryside of Hong Kong. All have been retouched to enhance the colours. Some are heavily saturated, to give it a more intense, heightened sensation to the eye...

The original photograph was a bit dull, so I enhanced the lighter areas against the darker areas and played with the colors until I found something interesting to the eye. But the light that falls onto the leaves is all natural, taken around 5pm in the afternoon in Tai Po, Hong Kong. As for depth of field, it is probably around F5.6 or 8, shot on Program mode in RAW format. Yes, I have been really drawn to hyper-real, surrealistic colors lately. I don't know why.

This is a wonderful series.  You balance the texture and light in an incredible way.  Loved all these pics.

This is a great photo.  So much of interest--what you do with depth of field so that the bare branches in front are simple linear silhouettes against the intensely saturated green and blue, with just a hint of lavender in the flowers.  Mysterious, disorienting, hyper-real.

Is bamboo ever really this color in nature?  This is a wild effect, a combination of the linear elements and the skewed color.
