Temperatures...that is. The last couple of days were incredibly hot, 90's...today, it's back to "normal" for SF summers at mid 50's...at least near the coast. Yesterday, the kids got up early so we decided to visit Sifu Bryant Fong's wushu class at the Japantown YMCA. Amy used to train with SF Wushu and we wanted to let the kids see some martial arts to see if there is any interest. We dropped in and stay for a little bit watching the taichi class and found out that more wushu is on Sunday. So, we'll be back to watch.
Afterwards we walked back to Japantown to check out the Japantown Asian/Pacific Islander Island Jam festival. We're all hungry so, we walked into the new hawaiian theme restaurant, Honu's. Right as we walked in, I see our very good friend, Danton Mew. (more on him below)Amy and I thinks he could be on AnD, as he's an actor and stuntman. Earlier last week, Danton email me about dropping by the festival, so that's another reason we ventured out to Japantown. He was helping out selling food for the festival and helped us get seated. That was cool as it was getting crowded in there. Sorry, no photos as we were soooo hungry, but we got the short ribs and the michiko chicken (sp?) The chicken was really good, especially with the sauce. It was fried chicken, but without the heavy batter. We all ate and with the stage right outside, the music made the kids restless in wanting to see the show. So, we went out and found some seats in the front row. It was a great show, with dancers showcasing different Pacific Islander dances. It was hot in the sun, but we lasted the entire segment.

Afterwards, we walked around and the kids played a few games "winning" small little things like candy to funky looking "rock" balls. We went back to the mall and got some shaved ice, lime and strawberry flavors. Mmmmmmm.....shaved ice does make a difference because it seems to melt in your mouth. Our little boy loved it. Our daughter preferred her Tootsie pop.

By that time, the kids were so pooped, that we made our way home for the rest of the day...which was OK, because Mom and Dad were in need of a nap too. It was a nice little outing on a very nice day. :)

A little bit about Danton, he and I hit it off really well when he visited our gung fu class years ago. We found out that we have many, many friends in common. Subsequently, he started to attend our class and we worked out together quite a bit. I'd say he recharged me. One Sunday class, a long time ago, Amy and I were there stretching out and Danton walks in with a bald friend. Amy let out an "Oh my god!" I asked what's wrong. She said, "OMG, that's him!. I asked who? She said, "It's Club Foot!" I looked and OMG, it was Club Foot from Once Upon a Time in China movies. So, Danton was hanging out with him and brought him in to meet our sifu. That was nice. Danton is also Kru Danton, a Muay Thai teacher, he's taught me a little bit of Muay Thai and has invited me endlessly to MT workout...I'm such a loser and I say, "Yeah, I'll be there" only to cancel. One of my NY's resolution this year is to attend one of his MT classes...i've got another 6 months to make it happen. I'm just afraid of the soreness that will come...plus I don't know if I can last!
