  • Power Outage

Freezing rain caused trees falling everywhere.  Power lines are down all over and no telling when we'll have power back.  No heat, no way of cooking food and no hot water.  The things we take for granted, like internet, tv, phone...  Never knew how much we rely on those things on daily basis until they're all gone.  After a day and night of total silence (aside from mother being so bored she paced the house looking for something, anything to say to me!  lol) hiding under layers of clothing and heavy comforters, I'm trying to stay sane!

They're working on getting important things back on ASAP.  Residentals could take anywhere from 3 days to a week.  Fortunately, mother found a friend who's got power and we're visiting at the moment.  Internet and hot shower is all I needed.  I had bills to pay online and emails to check, as my calculus final was supposed to be today, but no power, school's closed for the day.  I was hoping to see something from my calculus prof, but nothing just yet.  Likely she doesn't have power to get online to contact anyone.

Will come back on as soon as power's back on, but didn't want to worry anyone.

State of OK.  Bush declared state of emergency for all 77 counties this morning.  I just got power back on and I'm hoping it'll stay on.  There are some that got their power back and then lose it again.  Cross your fingers for me.  I'm still freezing cold and can't type real well.  As soon as water heater's warmed up, I'm gonna go soak to warm back up.  Right now, just a quick hey it's back on.  I'm off to kitchen to cook something hot to eat!

I live in the country and power outages are unfortunately a way of life, but not usually for more than 5 minutes.  During storms, inevitably for a few hours.  Last time it was for an extended period was when it was a summer storm so no biggie.  During the cold weather.  Yikes.  People are being hit with these all over the US.  The plains, NE, now you.  Sheeesh.  It's good to have a couple of kerosene heaters around.
