  • 吻别 - 張學友

    Sunday, Jul 20, 2008 3:48AM / Standard Entry

Growing up, 張學友 has always been (and still is) my favorite entertainer.

One of his most well known songs, 吻别 has grown beyond the Asian market.

First published in 1993, 吻别 is written by 殷文琦 (Melody) & 何啟弘 (Lyrics).  In a time when most Chinese songs are imported, 吻别 was able to do the exact opposite, and was exported and covered by two foreign groups.  Michael Learns to Rock (MLTR) from Denmark and Nu Flavor in the US.

This song was extremely well written.  It carries a heavy Asian tone but at the same time has element of both rock and a little R&B.  I'm really proud of the fact that our asian music culture can be experienced and enjoy by those in the west.

Below are MV of 張學友's original, MTLR version, and Nu Flavor version.

    Enjoy!

  • Goodbye George...

    Monday, Jun 23, 2008 10:04PM / Standard Entry / Personal

One of my favorite comedians George Carlin died yesterday (He doesn't like to be referred to as "passed away").  He was 71.

George was a pioneer in his craft, stepping away from the conventional "stand-up" comedians, and introduced his audiences to the world of "reality" based comedy.  His use of profanity and “colourful” vocabularies are both hilarious and controversial.  But it is his observation of the silliness and idiocy of life that makes us not simply laughs but laugh at ourselves.

A career that spans four decades, George was never one to back away from public pressure and is always willing to say what he wanted and believed.  He was certainly one of a kind.  His career had helped inspire today's most popular comedians like Chris Rock, Tom Stewart, Eddie Murphy, Dennis Miller, Bill Maher to name a few.

I'm disappointed and sad to say that I will never have the pleasure and honour to see George live.  Below are some of his past routines, they will forever be in my heart.

George...we will miss you.  I will miss you.

  • Lightning during a thunder storm

    Sunday, Jun 15, 2008 11:00AM / Standard Entry / Photography

On June 13, 2008, there was a thunder storm in Toronto. I took the chance to experiment taking pictures of lighting!

It's not very good, but it's pretty cool!

  • Lonely

    Tuesday, May 6, 2008 4:50AM / Standard Entry / Photography

Being lonely is alwasy difficult.  The emptiness of the room, the slience of the night...the eerie calm of nothingness.

You mess your room up just to make it less empty...

You crank up the TV to make some noise...

You drink so you can talk to yourself...

But it's all useless, for you realize that loneliness will always haunt you...

    Until you find her...

  • Downtown Toronto - Part 2

    Wednesday, Apr 30, 2008 4:52AM / Standard Entry

Lately, I took the time to go around the city of Toronto, the city I've lived in since coming from Hong Kong at the age of 10.  This winter has been brutal and when the first sign of spring finally decided to come, I can't help but to grab my camera and take advantage of the beautiful sunlight and landscape.  Here are some of the pictures I've taken...
