  • Concert ticket prices

It can cost a lot for a ticket to see certain artists in concert these days. What do you think is a reasonable price for a concert ticket? What is too much? How much would you pay to see your favorite artist? There are ticket prices that seem so high. I know that popular artists can charge the higher ticket prices (I am sure the demand is there). I guess ticket prices can depend on how big the production is so they have to take the cost of doing it into consideration and the venue/promoter takes a percentage of ticket sales too. It seems most places have different prices based on seating arrangement...so the closer you are to the stage then the higher the ticket price. Unless the concert is general admission then all ticket prices are the same or should be the same. Hmm...I guess they have to set ticket prices at amounts where they can at least recoup the cost of doing the shows...

Depending on the artiste I guess, but some do go sky high.

Faye's concert up in December is going at almost $300. *slumps*

this depends on enthusiasm... which includes anticipation, process and result... the last concert i went to, i paid for RM468 (ard USD160), not including air ticket and accommodations... and i wasn't a big fan either!! XD but when i first heard abt the concert, i made a promise with my friend, and we were enthusiastic. As time passes, the enthusiasm decreased and i had a personal slump in between, by the time the concert took place, i wasn't up for it... and the stadium was filled with adrenalin pumped teens screaming and pushing around, i thought it was absurd...
but now that i think back, it's alright...i got to see 12 celebrities flying all the way from Korea to perform, minus the crazy fans, it was an enjoyable evening, rationally saying...though next time i would only consider going to one that features my fav artists...
personally prefers showcases, smaller, more exclusive...it's the age factor...teenagers scare the living shit out of me...wonder if i was that scary back then...lol XD

Popular artists and closer seating having a higher value is inevitable, but I forgot that ticketing probably considers cost of production. You get them crazy concerts with all sorts going on. I think another big factor on price is the Country it's hosted in. Japan apparently has the biggest music market and I think the main reason for that is the price of music there. Concert tickets can cost a bomb and be normal. For me, if I dont think the concert ticket price is fair, I just wouldnt go. If it's an artist I have to see no matter what, then whatever price it may be, it becomes worth it to me. But then again, the only artist I can do that for is Rain and Christina Aguilera!

I think $100 is good enough.. something more than that can be a rip off........

I remember paying £90 to see Andrea Bocelli in concert, I know classical artists can command a lot but I'm not sure I'd pay that again, esepcially seen as seeing the rare Dir En Grey in England was only £14, big difference. Saying that if Gackt was to tour here I'd pay £100 down no probs! certainly the theatrics can up the price of a concert, I remember that when I was putting on a wrestling event the cost skyrocketed when the request for pyrotechnics was included and they added that to my costs and so the price of the ticket would have to go up. What would you pay? I think tickets are too costly now, even football fans are priced out of the market these days to see the matches
