How did that song go...."everything old is new again."? Seems that the old diesel engines that drove the M/S Mount Washington since 1947 are to be replaced this winter by Caterpillar engines. I guess nothing is forever.

You know, I spent twenty years flying around the world, competing and trying to be the best navigator there is. And now with everyone using GPS, I am afraid that navigators have been replaced with a .35 cent fuse. I wonder if Columbus or Magellan or Ponce DeLeon or Zheng He ever worried about this.

The old heating system finally died. Had a new one put in. It's supposed to be computer controlled and will save me a bunch of heating fuel. Spent two days putting it in and now it doesn't work. Seems that it blew a fuse. I just love computers.

This is a picture of my computer guru. He keeps me out of trouble in so many ways. Guess that is why I admire him. He always knows what I'm thinking and when I talk with him his answers are so well thought out that I'm embarrassed that I hadn't thought of it myself. I'm supposed to guide him but he so often guides me. He is my future.

This is my favorite time of the year. The nights are getting longer, the temperatures, both day and night are getting crisp and it is always such a treat to step into a warm house and smell the stew cooking on the stove. Nearer Christmas we can even smell the fir tree all through the house. This is a time when family comes together to share in accomplishments and even failures during the preceeding year. This is the time of year when it is good to love and be loved. And finally, this is the time of year to stuff ones belly to get ready for the long cold winter. Hey, the bears do it so at least there is a precedence there. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
