Let me preface before any rumors start that Terence and I were in the "friend zone" from the very beginning. We drank together, went clubbing together, and had quite a few deep discussions throughout the years. When my husband (in one of the pics) and I got engaged Feb '01, Terence took time out to take us both out and when I had my son (he's 2.5 now) and really couldn't be in the bar scene, Terence met up with us at afternoon tea.
Anyway, yesterday, my hubby watched my son so that I could drive from Palo Alto to San Francisco for the screening. Terence and I have been friends for about 13 years from college (don't worry T, I won't post any embarassing pics from Cal). Usually I see him once a year in HK so this was the first time seeing him here. Emily and I (we all had IDS 110 together freshmen year) met up with him after the screening at Kabuki and we had a great dinner with a few of his friends (including Andrew and Conroy) at House of Prime Rib.
For those of you who only see Terence through the media, let me show him in a different light since I don't see him the same way the media does. I uploaded a couple recent pictures of us within the last few years, as you can tell, it wasn't any big party scene, just a couple of old college friends getting together for dinner or a night out for drinks. He did bring us once to one of Daniel Wu's get togethers, I doubt Daniel remembers and even tho my hubby and I aren't in the party scene, Terence still really made an effort to stick around us, give us a beer, and introduce us around. He's always been modest and to him, everyone is just his friend. In fact, he didn't introduce Daniel to us as an actor or anything, it was just "this is Daniel, one of my best friends" and he introduced us as "these are my friends from the States visiting for a couple weeks."
Anyway, he's not just a party animal, he's sincere, thoughtful, intelligent, driven, and always knows how to make his friends feel good about themselves. He also works really hard, for the first 5 years, he kept telling me he was coming back to the States and every year, he keeps working hard at staying out in the swing of things in Asia.
Today, somehow I found myself spending some time registering for this site and getting aquainted with all the features, even while at work so Terence, hope this makes up a bit for me not watching all your films and hardly any of your friends' movies either -- I'm going to start!
