The Waves of Life

Life is neither joy nor sorrow

What happens today

Can change by tomorrow

Each day is new

When we open our eyes

Paddling our boats

Beneath ever-changing skies

On the waves of this ocean we call life

We experience many joys

And live through many strifes

Joy can be found sailing high on the crest

Sorrow is in the troughs

And it is here that truly brings out our best

It is not the destination
I realize with a smile

But it is all in the journey

That really makes it all worthwhile.

A Lonely Shadow

Lonely shadow
Not quite here
Not quite there
Dejected and battered
Outsider looking in
At all the pretty fairies
Swimming joyfully in pools of crystaline gin
Washing away the grime
Living the illusion
As they visit the scene
Of their most hideous of crimes

The crows are flying again
Searching for those who existed
But have never been
Not one world but two
Mortals and spirits
Angels or demons
Secretly hiding and
Waiting there
Behind the thin veil
Waiting just for you.
