  • An August to Remember!!

    Wednesday, Nov 19, 2008 3:14PM / Standard Entry

So, a journey across the soul and clearing of the mind and spaces to begin a walk into the inner most unknown. . .

I think every moment in my life had brought me to An August to Remember. It was a path clearly mapped out for me. If I had only known this earlier in my life maybe I would be more accepting and possibly less neurotic .  .  . If only, that was the way life worked out. I guess we learn from our past and present and hopefully allow it to affect us in a way that it reflects positively in our future.

At no fault of anyone, myself included. I realized at age 29 how ill prepared for LIFE I was, at 18 I entered the world CLUELESS. Look, I knew about poverty, politics and worldly situations but what did I really know or understand from it all? How did that knowledge affect my life? . . .  I sort of woke up thinking I was in a job the past 13 or 14 years that allowed me to meet amazing persons, artists and now friends. Yes true I was blessed, and maybe everything in my life led up to the light-bulb moment I had . . . all the pain, all the stress and worries for the past years allowed me to be clear. Through means of quitting smoking, quitting the crap, drinking and thus through HEALTHY LIVING, exercise, food we eat (people our body our temple) when we wake, when we sleep and how much time we give to loving ourselves for real!

. . . back to the light-bulb moment. I spent time thinking on HOW CAN I CHANGE THIS for the better of tomorrow?

I researched over and over again and came to the conclusion that the children of tomorrow is where I can start. I continued my extensive research and then came up with my plan.

    MINDING MANNERS
I bought two curriculum's from the UK on teaching manners, not etiquette ( this closes the child up) Manners teaches the children on kindness and being polite amongst other virtues. More research lead me to the United Nations educational curriculum, teaching children all about Values, from Peace to Respect and Humility and 12 other core subjects. . . I invested my savings and bought all curriculum's . . .

Myself with Howard, Tammy and My better half Stephen
I spoke to many influential people in my life, Howard McCrary (my G-d father) and his beautiful wife Ivy, my better half Stephen (who is an amazing teacher and so balanced in life), I spoke to my best friend who owns the Flying Pan Restaurant and many others, Very Importantly I spoke with my Grandmothers - I told them of my journey and asked them . . . "How do you feel about the way the world has changed so drastically" . . . to translate and simplify their answers:

My Safta's (Grandmothers) Safta Zila & Safta Zipora
"My dear Ifat (thats my name), When we were younger and we sat with our parents and grandparents before the wars. . . they'd say 'these are the days'. Now my grandaughter I say 'those were the days' you see, the world was greener and a more simple place. People had manners and respect, global warming wasnt there so . . . 'those were the days'" . . .

I then said it would be a mission of mine to change that statement, when I am a grandmother I hope to say "These are the days" . . .

    What to do with this?
    I developed a business plan . . . MINDING MANNERS. . . I start my teacher training next year. . .

Teaching the children of tomorrow, values and manners that will hopefully affect the shaping the better of tomorrow. If I learned anything in life, it does take ONE PERSON TO MAKE CHANGE. Life is a ripple effect, and I hope this effect will have positive change. . .

I started a camp in August too comprising of this . . . here are some photos. . .

The camp was great fun and the children were really involved, we only covered lessons on PEACE and some on Manners. It was a great success. I am definitely taking my time in developing this as I want to get it all right. I have great support! I have been asked to participate in World Peace Day in Thailand already teaching thousands of students on my journey and educating them with the curriculums developed.

I will continue to work with the Urban industry and behind the scenes on shows, movies and other exciting artistic expressions. But eventually I will leave since this is my calling, G-d has given me the gift to see what my PURPOSE in life is and now I know.

I will continue to respect and love myself, continue my meditations and healthy living for a better tomorrow!

  • Whats Going On? . . .

    Tuesday, Nov 18, 2008 8:26PM / Standard Entry

As you know by now, I've been on a journey the last couple of months of self discovery and personal contentment. It caused me to walk through some real dark and lonely times where no one would have the time of day to help (maybe because it was hard to believe that for years I've hidden my depression) either way the journey was hard and I thought I'd never get out of it.

The dark dark place is now gone and I'm still learning a lot about what makes me happy and what makes me tic. I've been working in PR and the Entertainment industry for more than 13 years now and it is real easy to loose yourself and forget who you really are. . . It was for me at least. . .

Thus, I've decided I'm finally ready to update slightly through photos of my journey. . .

    Enjoy!
    JULY 2008
This month was filled with lots of hurdles, this was my second month of no partying, smoking and heavy drinking. Rather LOTS of exercise, healthy HEALTHY eating and much mediation to ensure the mind, body and spirit group into one.  Although below you'll see some ummm cakes and what nots . . . it was all in healthy manner!!

    SHABBAT at MissyK*'s House

As you should know by now, I LOVE TO COOK and people LOVE TO EAT MY FOOD! So this Shabbat I cooked up a feast! Part of my journey starts here with my religion. Its a whole part of who I am. Where I come from and why I exist . . . Please visit this blog of mine before you read any further:  MY HISTORY

so now that you know a bit about my History . . . I invited my dearest and nearest to come along and celebrate SHABBAT a very important day each Friday, also considered as a HOLY DAY in the Jewish Religion. It was VERY IMPORTANT to have my closest buddies around me . . .

Scottie and Ida turned up which was lovely to show them what Shabbat is all about

Here you can see all our family and friends, next to me is my sister with brown hair

Scottie and Carl were amazing and showed so much respect by wearing a Kipa (Yamika) Its a Rabbinical tradition, not a commandment. The reason is this:
We wear a Kipa/Yarmukel out of reverence for G-d who is above us.
The Kipa is a sign of submition under His authority, and it makes the following statement: "From my toes to my head is all I am. G-d is above me in all respects, forever."

Golden Mountain my bro and I guess his brother in law type (my man Ste) being too silly!!

My sisters boyfriend made delicious chocolate balls, the dogs including GMTN's dog at the far right were dying to eat them . . . But I dont feed dogs chocolate!!

The night ended in a game of Charades and who better to participate but Brian Burrell my bro!!

    BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS IN 852
How lovely of a time it was, from three different parties. My man, my better half, organised two events. One was at the beach in a South African BBQ restaurant on Lantau Island. The other was at BBQ Korean Restaurant. YUMMY!!! I had so many lovely good friends show up to both!!! The third party was at Pi where a lot of fans from Alivenotdead turned up and was great to meet them for the first time.

Here with Barbara Wong, was lovely to have her there to celebrate with me :)

My special birthday cake featuring all my dogs :) yes I have FOUR DOGS

Me and Pooch loving the look of my cake YUMMY!!!

I got excited and happy that my man made such a beautiful day happen that I grabbed some extra icing, see  i was healthy not to eat the sugar but instead found better use for it, on his face! lol - good practice for our wedding cake which I will most defintiely do!!

Gladly he forgave me and went in for the messy kiss!

Hope it was a good read . . . and August will be with where my life has been moving towards . . . what career changes are being made and so on.

  • I've Realized

    Friday, Nov 14, 2008 2:50PM / Standard Entry

That updating on my past few months of hibernation is slightly harder than I thought, I'm looking at my diary entries and the photos and plane tickets ALL of it is so much, the journey is CRAZY! As I'm still on it  ,  Thus I have spent literally the last couple of hours sorting albums out so I can begin the update process!!

Soon in the next couple of days I promise there will be something here for you all to see what I've been up too.

For now, have a great weekend!!!
