大多數人對“Gothic”的認知﹐多半是出於衣著上﹐誤以為只要著得全身黑﹐化個白白的像鬼一般妝就是了；其實也只是Gothic的一部分而已﹐正式來說在80S之後衣飾和音樂上會稱之為“Goth”。

那“Gothic”又怎麼去理解呢？

先說一點"Gothic"的歷史源由。“Gothic”這字的出處,沒記錯大概是早在公元前的歐洲,出現了一個叫作歌德的部族.他們是所謂的野蠻人(Barbarian)﹐以搶掠見稱﹐所以有一段時間“Gothic”這詞是被認為是粗暴沒有文化的低下族裔。
