Thanx JRS for getting me to write some stuff again.

Things have been sooo busy here.  Spring is in the air and the rainy season almost over.....

The kids are very busy - My daughter had her very first ballet concert this past weekend - it has been a hectic time - getting her to rehearsals and helping her do the hair, the make-up the costume!  I''ll post some pics once I get the professional one's from the studio.....

Off course my little 5year old prima ballerina - stole our hearts - when she entered stage - as a ladybug - proper posture and beaming smile!  Her brother started laughing - Mommy cried and the audience went "Awhhhhhh!"

My son is also busy with his choir performances - singing in various competitions and on invitation at a few churches and old age homes.  He's been chosen to sing in our Provincial Youth choir - but we have declined the offer - as they have to commit for 4 years.  That is asking a bit much from a 10year old....and Mom and Dad has to give almost $1800 per year for the overseas competition travels....no way Jose!

Wushu training is in full swing.  We are learning new forms - our first long sword form and long pole form....what a new experience working with the sword!...my forearms are so weak - so I have to work at my technique...but I'm still struggling with my fitness and trying to lose more weight.....!

My son is boasting his first bruised eye - due to an uncontrolled roundhouse kick from a class mate - during Sanshou training.  He started crying - I walked away and left it for Shifu to handle.  I'm not a Mommy in class - I'm just a fellow student.!  That's hard to do....

I started working halfday now!  That makes me a taxi for the kids again.  Fetch from school - and then home to start the meals - try to get the house in order, homework done and get some Architectural work done as well.....

I found this amazing link to Lego's new Architectural range....enjoy

I promise some pics will follow soon.....

What a great time in your life to turn 10!
THIS IS WHAT YOU DO TO CELEBRATE!

Before the sun rises - you sit at the breakfast table - with the traditional blow out candle - in your school uniform and try to figure out what your 5 year old sister wrote in your birthday card??

Then you go to your favourite family Restaurant, with your sister and cousins and pretend you are Indians.

The SPUR is what the steakhouse is called - with an American Indian theme...strange but true.....

You get your baby cousin to have his face painted - like an "incredible super hero"

You show the other cousin - how brave you are.

And have you uncle and aunt pose for photographs.

as well as the Not so boring - Mom and Dad.

Then you go Ice skating with your best friends from school

Though you've never done this before.

But Dad with his skinny legs has.

And your sister takes her friend as well and they do the mini-rink thing.

Then you go back home and play Monopoly

and eat the South African version of a Hotdog - with a lamb sausage called "Boerewors"  or Farmer's sausage.  Yum

    Awesome!

  • 1st Wushu Grading

    Sunday, Jun 7, 2009 4:08AM / Standard Entry

    I have passed!

My son and I completed our very 1st Wushu grading this morning.

It was a gruelling 2 hour fitness test - with leg raise combinations, kick and punching routines - forms and general all over fitness testing.

I almost passed out twice - but a fellow wushu team mate - stood behind me - and did her exercises and kicking where I could see her in the mirror - thus pushing me to finish.

I had been sick this past week - so I really struggled with my breathing - but in the end we made it.

On Monday evening my son and I will be receiving our brand new Red sashes - at the school's grading ceremony - I think I'll just cry!

From now on - it is going to be even more harder work - to keep up and improve on the fitness as the levels will also become much harder...let's see.

No photos have been added - IT WAS NOT A PRETTY SIGHT!

  • Some homes I've designed

    Tuesday, May 5, 2009 3:22PM / Standard Entry

I thought that it would be a good idea to post some pictures of a few homes I have designed - so that you know I'm not just surfing the net all day.

these homes are situated within a security complex - meaning the area is walled and you have to enter via a boom gate only on acknowledgement of the owner.

The Architecture is supposed to be governed by a Body Corporate which had a set of strict Architectural guidelines set in place.  That stipulated the style of the building, the finishes and height restrictions.  Looking at my designs you'll notice that I circumvented the Double story rule...which was not allowed - due to the views to the Bay area....but we created basement levels - thus remaining within the height  zone.

These aren't masterpieces - I shall add, they are plain residential buildings with a limited budget.

The first house - was the original farm homestead (as the piece of ground used to be a vineyard and was subdivided and rezoned).....we gave it a total "makeover".

And then - the finished product!

    HOUSE 2

This roof was tricky - but we did it!

    HOUSE 3

This house is actually 2 in one - A dear lady and her aged mother lives here....with their gorgeous Cats!

    HOUSE 4

This house is still under construction......what a nightmare to get the staircase to work....the builder set out the lower level incorrectly....I was furious!  But we made a plan and the client was happy!
