Max Penzel--Cinematography
www.m-cadrage.de
Max was born in the late 70´s in Germany. His interest in images grew early in his adolesence, and started with first films and photos during school.
After a two years period as a trainee he applied for film school in Berlin, commencing in October 1999.
He gained work experience alongside his studies in the dynamic media city of Berlin. In recognition of his achievements at the film school, Max was awarded a scholarship for the International Film School in Lodz, Poland where he studied from 2001 to 2002 and shot several shorts during this period.
Back in Berlin he graduated from the Berlin International Film and Television School in 2005.
The quality & breadth of his work during his time at the film school was also rewarded through the Michael Ballhaus Award for upcoming Cinematographers.
Being very interested in all kind of arts, Max started to engage in all fields of cinematography, with a focus on Features, Commercials, Videos and Arts. The majority of his work has been shown on International Filmfestival and sold worldwide.
As a Second Unit Director of Photography in several projects, among other with Oscar Award Winning Director Volker Schlöndorff, he gained the experience to enable him to shoot his first feature-length movie in 2006 in China.
Due to the increasingly international nature of Max's work, he is looking to set up additional bases in Hong Kong.
Max was recently awarded with The "Villa Aurora Scholarship" from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he will be based in Los Angeles for three months in 2009...
