That was the week that was!

Well last week was interesting, apart from the sudden death of 'The King of Pop', it was also the week a new addition to the family arrived.

On Monday i got a letter in the post telling my i've been chosen for jury service, should be interesting seeing how the British justice system works! Although i doubt it will be like this!

On Tuesday at 7:10pm, my first nephew 'Alfie Jack' decided to arrive.
Here's me and Alfie, plus another AnD artist making a special apperance....in t-shirt form.

Also last week Adrian recently posted a link to TVB programme 'Hong Kong, Hong Kong' which profiled/interviewed audiotraffic. A cool and interesting watch, which brought many shouts and cheers from me at about 2 and a half minutes in, when they showed part of the commercial i created awhile back. It was a huge shock and surprise when i saw it, so awesome having something shown on HK tv, especially as it was specifically created for alivenotdead.com

And last week i finished a rough-cut of the MV i've been making, which i'll hopefully be putting on AnD in July sometime. Maybe this will feature on 'Hong Kong Hong Kong' too.

Aw, best wishes to your family on the birth of Alfie Jack. He's obviously not one of the bald ones lol, what a sweet little head of hair he has.

That scene was one of my favorites in the Superman series, thx for reminding me of it. Does being summoned mean you'll automatically serve on a jury?

Here they say one is 'called' to duty, because the attornies for each side are permitted to interview prospective jurors & accept or reject them, up to a certain number each. I think it's called voix dire.

Congrats on the new nephew! Shame you can't get out of jury duty the way I did...I had a nursing baby at the time and I said she refused to take a bottle, so where I go, she goes! The reply that I was free to skip it came pretty quick!

Mathew Blaize was born in 1980, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Despite being named as the worst City in the UK, he never let this hold him back. A fan of Hong Kong films from an early age; it was this passion that led him to pursue a career in film. When he left school, Mathew went straight to college; it was here he began experimenting with film, producing short animations which garnered cult status within the area.

In 2000, Mathew enrolled in a Bsc. course in Film Production technology, garnering various production techniques (Non-linear editing, directing, Animation etc.). Examples of his work are still shown to this day at Staffordshire University as part of open/enrollment days.

Since leaving University, Mathew left for a trip to Hong Kong, there meeting with local producer Bey Logan (The Medallion, Gen-X cops) with who he remains in contact with today. There he discussed film projects, scriptwriting, and showcased his film making talents. He also spent time on-set of the Adventure One documentary 'I want to Be Jackie Chan'

In 2005, Mathew completed his first feature film 'Jon Three-One', described as 'Battle Royale’ meets Starship troopers', and released it onto the internet, it went on to receive cult status among internet users and film fans alike.

A lover of Hong Kong’s music videos helped in 2005, when HK boy band (!) ALive requested fan created content, Mathew jumped at the opportunity, and created a 3D animated MV for the band, resulting in applause from both fans and ALive band members alike.

In 2007 Mathew completed his recent feature 'Jon 2' a sequel to 'Jon three-one', which will soon be appearing 'exclusively on the independent filmmaker’s website www.iklipz.com He has also contributed content to the UK based TV station SumoTV, and also spends his spare time writing screenplays.

Mathew's ultimate goal/lifelong dream is to one day live in Hong Kong and work in the Hong Kong movie industry
