A relaxing vacation is nice sometimes.  We did get lucky with the weather.  Just passing rain here and there but no storms or anything.  Have you been to Bermuda Marie?  It's so close to NC.

Ai Wei Wei is the same artist that drop the vase... you are looking at the work of the same artist who destroy inorder to create... destroy an object to create a statement.

I will be uploading some sculpture work later on too. Look out for those, Rodin, Henry Moore, plus plus..... all from the Open Air Museum in Hakone. An amazing musuem. I think I will dedicate more time to the Chinese Art next year 2010... will be ART reform time for me.

There is a photo series of him dropping a antique vase from height and how he added paints to all the antique vases as a sort of reform to the philosophical thoughts of how people treasure too much of the old and refuses to let go but at the end, it takes very little to transfore these into something else or to modify it. On the other side of it, it can also signify changes that transform life. Very clever artist!. Oh and I do not agree that "actors" are smarter...hahaha, I was just reading the exchange between you and Jeanne, I question that side of the thinking, I have only read a little of the exchange will follow up when I come back from my meeting later. I guess there are two sides to every coin. There are very smart actors indeed.

I much like the fact of sharing what we know and see with someone like you who would be generous to share your thoughts with me. Thank you. The Ai Wei Wei's installation exhibition was very provocative when seeing them face to face, he makes lots of interesting, political and philospohical statement that were very thought provoking. Thanks for your visit Marie.

Wonderful description of process.  Writers do a lot of what actors do and visa versa.
thanks for sharing.  I would write more but it's late.  I just got back from my weekly writing workshop.  It's exhausting.   stay in touch.  Jeanne

Sure thing Marie!  What works is that I usually discourage my subjects from posing cause that helps to put them more at ease and be themselves.  Hope all's been well with you and Mark.

very interesting information on the shooting of that film and I will check it out.
Actors are really the craftsmen(women) when making a film.  The "art" really is in the hands of the director and editor.  So theater is where it really is in the hands of the actors.  Once actors understand that they realize that all they can do is be prepared with any information or script given to them.  And then they hope the director and editor is an artist.   thanks again. enjoyed reading that.  Jeanne

No, I actually didn't know about it earlier... I don't keep up a lot with things these days... except for my own work... This film played at Slamdance the year before I was there. But I was happy to find out about it's success :) Esp. as we're programming... it gives new perspective to what we are doing.
