Yesterday a plane from TAM Airlines with 186 people on board skidded in the track of the Airport of Congonhas, in the South Zone of São Paulo, the plane crossed the Washington Luis Avenue and beat in a building of load and discharge from the same aerial company. The aircraft, a Airbus A320, flight JJ 3054, left of Porto Alegre, at 17h16 of Tuesday (17), and arrived São Paulo to 18h45. The accident is the major disaster of aviation in the country.
‘Ehh’, it seams I’m losing my free time, can’t even get online these days. Anyways, my week was pretty interesting, (13) I went to Maracanã Stadium to see Pan American Games Opening Ceremony. That was the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen! Ok… I might be exaggerating, but it was really beautiful, the fireworks show were amazing and also the percussionists, it looked like a Carnaval in middle of year. Our president, Luiz Inácio ‘Lula’ da Silva was booed by the crowd, 90.000 people, he was thrice humiliated at the opening of the Pan American Games. First, the crowd booed Lula when he was introduced by the president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, although Rio de Janeiro Mayor César Maia and Governor Sérgio Cabral received roaring applause. Later, Lula was booed once again when his name was mentioned by the president of the Pan-American Sports Organization, Mario Vasquez Rama. As the final blow, a very awkward sequence of images followed. First, Rama announced that Lula was going to declare the opening of the games, which prompted more jeers from the crowd. Then the cameras turned to Lula, who was standing in front of the microphone, in the dark, with his speech notes in his hands and a smile on his face. That was when Nuzman stepped back to the mike and declared the games opened himself, obviously to prevent even more embarrassment for Lula.
Lula booed on Brazil's big night By Gary Duffy (BBC News, Brazil)
Rio's world famous Maracanã stadium was a fitting venue for the opening of the Pan American Games and, in keeping with its reputation, there was plenty of high drama. The ceremony to mark the occasion was an explosion of light, colour and costumes that were suitably elaborate for the city most closely identified with carnival. There was even a 20m-long (65ft) alligator that crawled across the arena, as 4,000 entertainers pulled out all the stops backed by a wide range of Brazilian music. There were 1,500 percussionists and even an orchestra on hand to mark the occasion. But there were uncomfortable moments as well for some key participants. The US representatives were booed as they arrived in the stadium. Whether this was because of an ill-judged joke by a member of their delegation earlier in the week, or a wider feeling of anti-Americanism, was not clear.
Embarrassment The boos for Brazil's President Luiz Inácio ‘Lula’ da Silva, and he appeared not to play as much of a role in the ceremony as had been expected. The president was introduced at one point, but did not in fact speak, a confusion that seemed to only add to the embarrassment of the moment. The president had been due to say "Good luck Brazil", but the phrase was uttered by the head of the Brazilian Olympic Committee instead, Brazil's TV Globo reported. It may not have been the thanks the president was expecting for so enthusiastically backing the games.

05/07/2007 Justice suspends Preliminary Verdict against the Live Earth
The
judge Maria Paula Gouvêa Carvalho, revoked this Tuesday (05) preliminary
verdict, that hindered the accomplishment festival Live Earth, in CopacabanaBeach, in next Saturday (07).
The
Military Policy reviewed its strategy of security to be able to guarantee the
simultaneous accomplishment of shows in CopacabanaBeach
and a gospel event in Aterro do Flamengo.
According
to Public prosecution of Rio de Janeiro, the command of Military Policy had
informed that didn’t have conditions to guarantee the necessary policing to the
show, and that the problem is not only the security guard question. According
to prosecutor of environment Denise Tarin,
the policy has to guarantee the control of alcoholic sell and to restrain the
consumption of drugs. The Public prosecution service said that it will raise
the ambient damage caused and to demand deep indemnity to be reverted for the
National one of the Environment.
Later, in note, the Public prosecution service of Rio de Janeiro affirmed that it goes to
appeal of the decision of Justice to liberate the accomplishment of the
festival in Copacabana. The argument is that the Military Policy would have
adopted positioning differentiated for the case.
07/07/2007 Live Earth Rio
I was yesterday in Live Earth Rio, in CopacabanaBeach. Shows had been excellent and the
best moment was not the end of the show, with Lenny Kravitz, but the
confirmation from the secretary of Tourism, Rubem
Medina, that the Cristo Redentor (Redeemer Christ) was one of the 7 Wonders
of the World.
Anyway,
Lots of artists with the same objective, a social action warning for Climate
crisis. Live Earth marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign led by the
Alliance for Climate Protection, The Climate Group and other international
organizations to drive individuals, corporations and governments to take action
to solve global warming. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore is the Chair of the
Alliance and
Partner of Live Earth.
People
must wake wile is possible, Earth is the ‘life’ for every one of us.
Victor
Fasano and Christiane Torloni (Brazilian actors), who presented MV Bill
(Brazilian Musician), remembered the importance to contain the environmentdestruction
and preservation of Amazônia.
Astrid
Fontanelle and Murilo Rosa, who anounced Marcelo D2, asked people to change
cars for a bicycle. “If everyone in Rio,
during eight days, used a bicycle instead of car we would reduce 100 a thousand tons of
carbonic gas".
“It's
been a hard day's night; And I've been working like a dog; It's been a hard day's night; I should be sleeping like a log (…)” – The

Since Tuesday, 13, I’ve been working
and studying very hard, fortunately, I’ve ended my 9º period in university… Stepping
now into the last semester, thank God!
I’m sooooo tired of working and studying
this last years… I’m without time to see friends, and if I found some, probably
I’ll wake the next day tired as hell
Today was my first free day. I didn’t
need to go to my extra course, I didn’t need to go work and neither to uni. I’ve
slept so much… had a freak dream with Denzel Washington killing someone in
front of me in a paper shop. At least I didn’t see any blood neither the guy’s
corpse.
I’ve woke up around 4pm here in
Brazil, so I skipped my breakfast and went to mom’s house to have lunch… then I
stayed there for sometime, gossiping my news and listening to some good
advices.
Now I’m home, sad about thinking to
work tomorrow.
