i very much liked the city.....but i'll never move there!
i started off my first day just walking around the capital hill neighborhood. i loved how every house looked different and that there was just greenery dripping all over the sides of the houses, along fences and above your head. i also loved the smell of fresh dirt all around.

seattle has a number of nice little parks. volunteer park is especially nice to walk through and houses the seattle asian art museum and a conservatory. the museum is quite small, but comprehensive and coherent. other parks or look out points are scattered about the city and often overlook the various bodies of water and the hilly landscape.

the city also has beaches, which just feel rough and raw, but that's what's nice about them. they feel untampered. i also noticed that the clouds and the skies are so big and vast that you feel really really small. it's definitely a wakeup call whenever i start getting full of myself and my worries.

the weather wasn't too bad. though the mornings would start off gloomy, the skies usually cleared up by midmorning. that's not to say that i would be able to handle the frequent gloom on a daily basis. however, i did like how my skin stayed nice and soft and my hair wavy, from the dampness in the air.
now onto the bad news: the food and the nightlife are really dissapointing. the nightlife....fine. i understand that i'm a spoiled nyc girl who has so much culture, music, art at her fingertips. but atleast have good, tastey food!!! I KNOW I"M SPOILED! but i just love good food. good food can be cheap or it can be expensive. i felt that the overall quality was below average.
but what about the coffee, you ask? belive it or not, i did not have any coffee while i was there. i just can't handle the caffeine in coffee. i did have several cups of chai lattes, which were all very good. but all the coffee shops and pastries in the world (and there are millions in any neighborhood) can't replace a good meal, atleast not for me. i guess folks there don't eat so much at meal time since they nosh on coffee and pastries all day long.
so there you have it. i heard it's much nicer in the summer when it doesn't rain as much. and it's certainly got it's own quirks and laid back vibe.
but home is where the heart is.....even though this heart is bleeding from the high cost of living.
