  • PHO REAL!

    Monday, Jul 20, 2009 12:10AM / Standard Entry

Master chef Fred has finally opened his own Vietnamese restaurant in Shanghai! It's called PHO REAL and it's located on 166 Fu Min lu (166 富民路).

My sister, me and some other friends went to his home for the first food tasting.(lucky us!!!) He just got back from a feeding frenzy/research in Vietnam.

Yesterday was the first time he went for an actual test run at his restaurant.
    Fred brought the subwoofer in:

Right before he went into the kitchen

This will be the lunch set: a few appetizers followed by a delicious bowl of PHO
    .

He only invited a few friends, but because the food and atmosphere was so great, his friends invited more friends!

So in the end the place was packed! Fred didn't expect so many people but he handled the demand for his fantastic food with ease. Afterwards he was like: So I guess this was the soft opening already!

After this delicious meal my sister and I went to M1NT for another friend's B'day party and we danced which is a great way to burn the food off!

but after all the dancing... we had chocolate cake!!!!

  • Lifeline Express dinner party

    Saturday, Jul 11, 2009 3:51PM / Standard Entry

My sister and I made a trip to Hong Kong last week and attended a dinner for the Lifeline Express charity foundation. The dinner was hosted by Samson Chan, the chairman of the HK toys council.
He has a gorgeous house with 11(!) bedrooms. We asked him where the need for 11 bedrooms came from. He said that all of his children have agreed to move home after their graduation and raise their families there. It's so traditional and I have great respect for that. Their family bond is obviously very strong.

My sister's name is so similar to mine!

Samson Chan with his wife. Lifeline Express founder Nellie Fong with her husband and chairman Bunny Chan

    My pretty sister!

The host really made sure that he served the best of the best during this 14 course dinner...abalone with sea cucumber

THIS IS MY NEIGHBOR'S SHARKS FIN SOUP, I DON'T EAT IT! IT'S TOO CRUEL HOW THEY HARVEST THE FINS!!! I ONCE DID AN UNDERWATER SHOOT AND WE WERE IN WATERS THAT USED TO HAVE LOTS OF SHARKS THERE.... WE ONLY FOUND ONE SHARK AFTER 5 DIVES...I USED TO LOVE THE TEXTURE OF IT... BUT NOW I JUST CAN'T GET IT DOWN MY THROAT ANYMORE...

    I love cake though!

sorry cholesterol level... The dinner included lobster, birds nest soup, beef, chicken, veggies... I had to roll out of the house afterwards.

2/3rd of the cast of Musical Moments was present! So we had to sing for our dinner. Here we sang "The moon represents my Heart" and "Seasons of Love". David Quah played the piano very passionately as you can see!

Some dancing to burn off the calories

Giving my adorable sister a kiss

After all the food was finished, we continued singing in the karaoke room located in the basement!

My friends Stanley & Mary have a new kitten called Rainbow! So small and cute!

She jumped in my sister's suitcase. It's only a small inflight case, but she totally dissapears in it...It looks like she's saying: take me with you to Shanghai!!!

  • The 1st Musical Moments concert in Beijing!!!

    Wednesday, Jun 24, 2009 12:47PM / Standard Entry

    The first meeting in Beijing

It was actually 11AM but the weather was so bad that it looked like night! A few of our fellow singers were still on a plane when it started thundering and raining...Pretty scary. They missed the meeting because it was too dangerous to land.

2 greenback turtles in the office next to our meeting room... This is illegal!!!!!
It made me miss scuba diving though.

Rehearsal on the 2nd day. The rehearsal place was at a dance school about an hours drive from the city center.

Thank you Wudi for your support!!

This was the first time I came across a Beijing driver playing his flute while driving, he was pretty good too!

D-Day. A briefing in the auditorium. The tech run got delayed. We rushed through it and finally had an hour and a bit left to have dinner, get changed and our hair and make up done!!!

A few pictures taken from the wings. I hope to get higher resolution pics soon.

All the female singers of Musical Moments Beijing, Jovita Leung, Mindy Quah ( 柯以敏) and me. The guy is the make up artist.

The one and only Howard McCrary!

  • playing a BOND girl!

    Sunday, Jun 7, 2009 11:59PM / Standard Entry

I filmed an intro for a TV show in Shanghai and had to play a Chinese Bond girl!
James Bond was played by my friend Chi who is the host for this show.
The shoot was a lot of fun to do and now I can finally say I was a Bond girl, hahaha!

Punching someone else is always more fun than being punched!
