  • Rock climbing in Shanghai!

    Friday, Nov 13, 2009 1:05AM / Standard Entry

I had to shoot an episode about rock climbing for the international channel the other day.
I only had 1,5 hours of sleep the night before becoz I attended an event in Xiamen and had to catch the first flight back to Shanghai the next day. I will blog about Xiamen next time, but first I would like to share some pictures of the rock climbing!

The TV show is called Shanghai A-Z and there are several hosts for this program.
This time I was paired up with Matt and we went to check out the indoor rock climbing stadium in Shanghai.

Here's one of the coaches showing the viewers how it's done!

Host Matt trying to show off!

This must be his imitation of Spiderman

The key to rock climbing is to use your legs for support as much as possible
Rock climbing is a fun way of toning up your body! A good session of rock climbing will really make you feel you worked out when the soreness hits in the day after.

  • Musical Moments Hong Kong 2009

    Sunday, Oct 11, 2009 3:29PM / Standard Entry

I don't have the official pictures yet, but here are pictures that I've collected from friends! Most of them are shot by GR Rodis.  Just like last year, GR took countless pictures from the show and rehearsals. It's a great remembrance. Musical Moments is truly one of my highlights every year!

    The Pig sacrifice

In the dressing room waiting for our call to get on stage!

We opened the show with "We Will Rock You" and I sang "Somebody To Love" straight after that.

    Robert singing "Stars"

    The amazingly talented Joanna

Marsha and Loren singing a cute duet

    Me singing "Someone Like You"

Tomos Griffiths has played the title role of "The Phantom of the Opera" in the West End.
His rendition of "Music of the Night" was fantastic!!!

Last year Jessica sang a song as the innocent Sandy from "Grease", but this year she turned into a femme fatale for her solo: "All That Jazz"

Absolute perfection, Howard and Joanna singing "Somewhere"

You are the "Dancing Queen"!!! The most fun part was when we walked into the audience during the song!

A selection from the "Rat Pack"

    Howard McCrary...no introduction necessary!

A song from the musical "Spamalot". This pose reminds me of the love duet in "Miss Saigon", one of the musicals that Joanna has played in.

    Curtain call!

From left to right: Charmaine who came all the way from Las Vegas to watch the concert, Stanley, Marsha, me, Ariel, Joanna, Robert and Tricia.

The after party was held at Muse next to the Cultural Centre.

    See ya'll next year!!!!

  • Preparation for Musical Moments 2009!

    Monday, Oct 5, 2009 2:15PM / Standard Entry

We had an amazing show last night at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre!
We worked with the Lifeline Express Charity foundation again and they were able to raise 2.2 million HKD this year!
This time we had very little rehearsals compared to previous years, but it all came together in the end! We had a great time rehearsing and getting to know the new members;Loren, Tomos and Chloe.
It's so great to return to HK and see our HK friends, Stanley & Mary, David & Jovita, Marsha, Jessica, Howard & Ivy and also the gorgeous Joanna who flew in all the way from London. It's such a great honor and pleasure doing this show with all of them.
I will post up some pictures of the rehearsals first! Can't wait to share the show pictures with all of you when I get them!

This is our first band rehearsal:

We also made a trip on the OOCL junk boat to Lamma Island with the cast for some delicious seafood:

Joanna and Loren singing their duet from "Spamalot" for the first time together.

I think Tomos and Marsha were making fun of eachother here!

Jessica going trough her dance routine

Joanna and Howard rehearsing their beautiful duet "Somewhere".

Robert blowing us away with his powerful voice.

We were able to have a dress rehearsal at the cultural centre one day before the show.
My sister Lily, Ida and Christina flew in from Shanghai to watch the concert!

    Our mic packs

Producer David Quah checking the stage before the run through

Loren and me just goofing around

Alex passed by the rehearsal as well. There will come a day when people will say: No, I'm not on f&^#ing Alivenotdead!!!

Ater our run through we had a big meeting that lasted till after midnight at Dada in TST.

Show pictures will be up soon!!! Cheers!!!

  • Shanghai Tang, HK & Sydney

    Sunday, Sep 6, 2009 7:34PM / Standard Entry

A long time has passed since my last blog!
I would like to share some pics of some recent happenings.

I attended the Shanghai Tang fashion show last week with my sister and actor Jon Benn.

Just a few days ago I was in HK for a big b'day party for my friend's dad, David Yeh.

This is the "sistas pic":  Here I am with my sister Li-Hong and Marsha with her sister Eugenia!

Howard was at the party as well and of course he was asked to sing!!!

My dear friend Mary and Elvis who also flew in from Shanghai just for this party.

The original cast of Musical Moments was present and we all sang for David Yeh.
There were other singing performances as well including Elvis who starred in the European Tour of the Monkey King. Danny Diaz performed too and he got everyone up their feet!

    The Yeh family

    Kat Yeh!

After the party we went with a bunch to Lan Kwai Fong.
Kat and me. She will be going back to London again to continue her studies... Come back soooon!

I just arrived in Sydney with my sister Li-Hong. It's her first time to come here!
Today we went to the fish market and had some great seafood!

Fried fish is one of my favorites!

    Giant watermelons!

    A maxi cupcake, me likey!

Today there was an event for Chinese National day and the Opera House was the venue for a big celebration.

I felt like I was still in China, There were Chinese people everywhere!

  • Stefanie Sun performs @ Shanghai Stadium

    Sunday, Aug 9, 2009 1:32PM / Standard Entry

I went with my sister Li-Hong Robert and Loan to Stefanie Sun's concert last night.
The weather forecast said there was a typhoon that could hit Shanghai every moment, but luckily it was dry right before the concert!

The visual effects and stage design by Wing Shya, a feast for the eyes!

With some imagination you can see the shape of a person...Maybe the weather god?
It was pretty cloudy and we had our umbrella's within reach.

    Some shots of the audience

I think the costumes of the dancers and Stefanie should be at least in the same style... but it was totally different...

Now this is one strange costume...

One of the visual highlights, A hologram of Stefanie.

Then halfway the song she appeared.

When the concert was almost over, it started to rain!!

There was a private wrap dinner afterwards and it was nice to meet Stefanie and to chat with her briefly.

Li-Hong, one of the producers of the concert and Rob.
