  • Still in Saigon! ;)

    Saturday, Apr 21, 2012 5:29AM / Standard Entry

Things are going really well in Saigon! During Easter we performed our 200th show!!!

There have been a few changes to the show though.
Our first cast Ellen, Brigitte Heitzer is pregnant and she has left the show earlier than planned. We're all super sad to see her leave as Brigitte is such an amazing performer and she is such a joy to work with!
Here's a picture from her last week in Saigon and I was lucky enough to play one more time opposite her as Kim.

I'm so grateful to have a job like this,
recently I got to play 3 different roles in a week again. What an amazing challenge it is to switch between roles!
Talking about Ellen, this role is mainly played by Caucasian women and even though I have to wear a wig when I go on as Ellen, I remain Asian!
I got to wear a new costume for my most recent show as Ellen, here I am, all dolled up in 70's style:

I'm about to take my first holiday since I started the show and will leave for Hong Kong in a few hours!!! So it's goodbye to Saigon for now and hello Hong Kong!!!

  • My Premiere as Ellen and Saigon reunion

    Tuesday, Feb 14, 2012 6:21AM / Standard Entry

I recently had my premiere as Ellen!
We had a double matinee show! On the last day of the week I played the part of Kim at the matinee show and then I played Ellen for the first time that same evening!
Here's a picture of me in my Ellen costume with Kok-Hwa who plays the Vietcong general Thuy.

Here's a snippet of the new Ellen song!! Our production is the first one to feature the new song for Ellen. The song is called "Maybe" (The Dutch title is "Toch Nog") and it replaces the previous song "Now that I've seen her". There are a lot of discussions about if the show really needs a new Ellen song, but personally, I like the new song and our Ellen (Brigitte Heitzer) sings it beautifully!!!

The original Dutch production premiered in 1996 and it ran for more than three years. Our current production premiered 15 years after the first one did.
The company organized a reunion and invited about 80 people who were involved with the original production, some people even flew in to attend.
It was an extremely special show for us that night.

The current cast and the previous cast of 1996-1999.

The previous Kim and Chris sang the duet "Sun and Moon". Then our current Kim and Chris joined in and they sang "The Last Night of the World". It was so beautiful and touching, it gave me goosebumps! I felt very grateful to have been able to be there and witness it live!

Has anyone seen my contact lens??

Here is a picture with lots of gorgeous ladies who have played the role of Gigi!!!!
The original production of Miss Saigon Holland ran for more than 3 years and several ladies played the role.
Maria (My roomie and understudy Gigi), Nurlaila (Gigi, old Dutch cast, me, Imelda (Original Gigi, old Dutch cast) and Tricia (Gigi UK tour).

And two more pictures with Cystine who played Gigi when the show closed back in 1999.
