Well, starting to study Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University next week. I should probably type my blogs in Chinese more often. At least I'll still feel like i'm on vacation since its only 4 hours of class every morning.

    下个礼拜我在北京语言大学开始上学。我应该常常用中文写博客。至少我还是感觉我在度假因为只有四个小时上课。

  • Facebook Blocked! Sucks...

    Saturday, Aug 1, 2009 3:52PM / Members only

Well, its been about a month since Facebook has been blocked in China. It was cute at first, the big tough Chinese government scared of freaking facebook! ...but now its getting old. I rely on facebook a lot more than I should, and I didn't realize it till I've been cut off for a month. All the proxy sites I've tried using just get you to the login page, but after trying to log in it cuts you off again.

Serious pain in my ass. Even Myspace seems to be messed up. I can't get into my inbox.

  • Another Earthquake in China

    Monday, Jul 13, 2009 6:46PM / Members only

So, apparently there was another earthquake in China. This one hit Yunnan province in the southwest. I'm in China, and I never heard the news. Then again, I really don't pay much attention to anything recently. I only just recently heard about all the Uighers in Xinjiang killing all the Han Chinese and the Han's trying to get revenge. I can scratch that off my list of places I wanna visit. Anyways, no one was reported killed in the earthquake or the 8 aftershocks. Here is the article I found online for it.

An earthquake rocked tonight, causing  at least 10,000 homes to collapse and injuring more than 300 people.

The quake, measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale, hit Yunnan province's Yao'an county in the south west of the country.

It was was followed by eight aftershocks.

So far there have been no reports of deaths.

But Chinese official state media said that at least 336 people were injured, with 30 cases serious.

More than 40,000 houses were damaged by the tremor – of which a quarter collapsed.

State officials said they were sending 4,500 tents, 3,000 quilts and other relief materials to Yao'an.

And hundreds of extra police have been dispatched to the disaster zone, a quake-prone, mountainous region that lies on China's southern border with and .

It also borders Sichuan province, where a magnitude-7.9 quake last year left almost 90,000 people dead or missing.

In 1988, a 7.1-magnitude quake in Yunnan killed more than 930 people.

More than 15,000 people died after a magnitude-7.7 earthquake in the province in 1970.

But authorities at the time covered up information on casualties and damage amid the chaos of the Cultural Revolution.

  • Know Your Enemy

    Friday, Jul 3, 2009 6:48PM / Members only

I love Green Day, and this new song totally lives up to the high expectations for their new album! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this.

    Know Your Enemy

    Do you know the enemy?
    Do you know your enemy?
    Well, gotta know the enemy

    Do you know the enemy?
    Do you know your enemy?
    Well, gotta know the enemy

    Do you know the enemy?
    Do you know your enemy?
    Well, gotta know the enemy

    Violence is an energy
    Against the enemy
    Violence is an energy

    Bringing on the fury
    The choir infantry
Revolt against the honor to obey

    Overthrow the effigy
    The vast majority
Burning down the foreman of control

    Silence is the enemy
    Against your urgency
So rally up the demons of your soul

    Do you know the enemy?
    Do you know your enemy?
    Well, gotta know the enemy

    Do you know the enemy?
    Do you know your enemy?
    Well, gotta know the enemy

    The insurgency will rise
    When the bloods been sacrificed
Don't be blinded by the lies
    In your eyes

    Violence is an energy
    From here to eternity
    Violence is an energy
    Silence is the enemy
    So gimme gimme revolution

    Do you know the enemy?
    Do you know your enemy?
    Well, gotta know the enemy

    Do you know the enemy?
    Do you know your enemy?
    Well, gotta know the enemy

    Overthrow the effigy
    The vast majority
Burning down the foreman of control

    Silence is the enemy
    Against your urgency
So rally up the demons of your soul

  • Beijing Tom.com Launch Party

    Friday, Jul 3, 2009 5:34PM / Members only

Since I'm living it up in Beijing, I was able to make it out to the Alivenotdead and Tom launch party they held out here. It was pretty crazy! Ton of people running around, but a lot of fun! As soon as I get a chance, I'm gonna download my pics onto here. I dropped my camera, so its acting kinda weird at the moment.

The party started outside, with lotta press and free drinks. Terence said a few words, MC Jin got the crowd going, then later the party moved inside Block 8. There was an awesome chinese metal band playing, but I didn't catch their name. I met the lead singer, Yang Meng, he was a cool guy. I'm actually hoping to catch another one of their shows when they have one.

Later, when everything was starting to cool down, everyone went up to the top floor of Block 8 called 'The Beach', The whole place is covered in white sand, hence the name. No music up there, but a light breeze made for a nice end to the party.
