My noon run has been yanked by someone with more seniority and if I don't find a run with enough hours, I'll lose my health insurance in February. If that's not bad enough, my husband had to get an ultrasound yesterday. We'll find out tomorrow if he has testicular cancer or not. Gonna be pretty damn expensive to take care of if it's cancer and we have no insurance. I knew my luck was too good lately. It was only a matter of time before the rug got yanked out from under me.

Sean and I took the kids out for dinner and there we met the most amazing person. He was 86, on oxygen and sitting across from his beloved wife, and we got to talking. First he teased Sean by claiming he thought Sean was the girl's grandfather and asking how he landed such a young chick (me! haha) I found out he had a lot in common with my late dad who would have been about the same age as this gent. They both served in WW2 and around the same area. My Dad spent time in the Phillipines and Guam while the gent was mainy in Phillipines.
He told some of the wildest jokes. Like this one (which works better as a verbal joke than written but here goes):
"A woman had twin baby boys and as she was taking them out in the stroller, her neighbor asked, "how do you tell them apart?" she replied, "easy...by their balls."
"Their Balls?!"
"Sure...this one bawls when he's wet and that one bawls when he's dry"
He told us that he loves to make people smile and/ or laugh and the only time he ever failed was one Xmas when he told someone "Happy hollidays" and the person got mad and spit...he reasoned that the man had issues or sad memories regarding the time of year but he let it go. But imagine how cool that is. Going through life with that one goal in mind...to make everyone you meet smile or laugh.
Then as he was leaving he told Sean, "Some advice...take your lady driving. Go to a gravel road somewhere dark and isolated...and see if you can still fog up the windows!"

I mentioned in one of my last blogs that my hours had been cut back. Good news is that thanks to the kindness of a bus driver and my boss, I no longer have that problem. First, one of the drivers suggested that I hop onto his bus after my run ends to help with his run. He has a group of daycare kids who have to get off the bus in a timely and orderly way or else traffic behind the bus backs up into a dangerous intersection. The next day my boss was kind enough to give me an afternoon run that wss supposed to have been up for bidding, meaning that someone with more seniority would probably get it. Instead he made it part of my perm. schedule. Now I have 8 hours a day and I get to keep my insurance. Whew!
