About Me
Best known for being Lead Actress of award-winning 32-minute short film Cubik, Laura started her professional acting career in September 2008.
Back in 2006, she was inspired by a stand-up comedy (Broadway Beng), and went on to study Theatre Arts at Lasalle College. Shy by nature, she has surprised many with her venture into the field of performing arts - but she has proven that only on stage & screen can she truly spread her wings & enjoy herself.
Her knack for memorising chunks of dialogue often bewilders cast & crew alike. In addition, she was once described by a director, as having the rare ability to act while under extreme physical exertion - such as a fight sequence. Whether an action-filled scene, or an emotionally-driven scene, Laura has the capability to put her heart & soul into her acting.
As a newbie, she was cast as the lead in the 32-minute film Cubik, Official Selection at five International Film Festivals in the USA & Singapore. It also picked up a Grand Remi Award - Best of Fest (Short Film) at the Houston Worldfest 2010. Her dearest memories of filming Cubik involve a wrestling session in the mud, the opportunity to use her Judo reflexes while performing her own stunts, sitting in a Lamborghini & learning how to successfully solve a 5-by-5 Rubik Cube!
Always up for some adventure, she dearly loves travelling & living independently. Other than judo, she currently has her eyes set on learning Taichi, Muay Thai, MMA & possibly even dabbling in the art of wushu!
Constantly restless, she has also taken on responsibilities behind the scenes - most recently being involved as a Casting Director & 2nd Asst Director. A member of Workaholics Anonymous, she can't deal with a lot of free time & needs to be constantly working in the industry she loves.
Paraphrasing Jackie Chan, who was once compared to the legendary Bruce Lee, she says: I don't want to be the next Karen Mok, I want to be the first Laura Kee. And she sticks strongly to her unique persona - a mix of unpredictability, emotional strength & femininity - all rolled into one Laura Kee.
