Might have something to do with youtube being blocked in Turkey. Proxies aren't always working well.

C'est un pays musulman, en majorité. Donc pas de fête particulière. I've been told Santa comes for New Year though. Ah, commercialism, the global language.

Hi Kit! thanks for the birthday wishes. We'll about to do a company birthday lunch in about half an hour and we just got over celebrating at Hardpack's CD Launch Party so I'm still a little bit hungover. Wish you were here to celebrate!

You make me nostalgic for Seville.  An apartment right next to the Alcazar!

Yes, Sara Baras is amazing.  I have seen her dance several times in Spain.  Right at this moment, there are some tremendous flamenco dancers coming out of Spain.  Most of them are women.  These things ebb and flow--the 80s was all about the men.  The 90s was the new generation of men and women that included Sara Baras, Eva Yerbabuena and Joaquin Cortes, among others.  The early 21st century is definitely the time of the women.  The Bienal de Flamenco is occurring soon in Seville.  That is a wonderful month-long flamenco festival in one of the most romantic cities in the world.  I love Seville, I love flamenco.  Together, they make the perfect combination.

Well, tell me what era of art history you are interested in and I could probably suggest a few titles.  I have been out of the field for over 10 years, now, but there are still some standard works.  In terms of surveys--there is still Janson and Gardiner.  I know there might be a few newer ones as well, but I haven't worked with them.  Gombrich is also a standard text, though editions of his work typically don't come packed with a lot of the photos.  These days, any art history I'm reading is for my own edification.  I've started reading about Chinese art, which is a big topic, and something I never had any training in.  I may not be working in the field of art history (though not by choice), but I still want to read about art after many years of not cracking a book on art history.  I still love art and art history.  Life just took me down a very different path.
