(星島日報報道)「文雀」即扒手，本為黑社會術語，現已成為流行用語。在古時，「雀」有「取」的意思。文雀是一種鳥類，身長約十二公分，全身黃褐色，和斑文鳥極相似。
文雀的食物以果實和植物種子為主，且多在田野和叢林獵食，由於文雀身手輕巧靈活，在保護色掩護下，偷食農作物而不易被農夫發覺，形同小偷，故小偷又被稱為文雀。
