This was a interesting day, shooting with Red One. This is a amazing camera with 4K resolutions. It using PL mount so I can use all the 35mm Film lens.

The day I was using a build 15 Red. So there has some functions not yet really up-to-date. But in general, the performance still good. In Build 15, the 4K (16:9) has some bugs when recording. So I choose to use 4K (2:1) instead, I think when the camera update to Build 16, this will not be a problem. Then I made the making with 16:9 full and 16:9 safe.
There is some tips when dealing with the files and preview in Red and computer. It's better to choose the QT Proxies "ON", then the camera will create a QuickTime reference movie with 4 difference resolution setting in the same folder as the .R3D file (the Red Raw Data File)

I use T1.3 Lens at first, The Preset ASA is 320 with the minimum digital noise. I set the Zebra at 77-93 IRE then I keep the Hi-Level area to keep appearing the zebra and sometimes not over too much. Because the camera range can accept up to 110-115 IRE. Everything are similar to 35mm film camera. Just a little different is that it is digital, it using CMOS senser, so I can change the colour temp and color tint. The color temp I can change by 100 degree each step. from maybe 2,000 to maybe 10,000 degrees....(I haven't dial to the limit degree, but I using 5600K when indoor with HMI, and 6300K with +2 color tint when shooting in the hall with HMIs and some sun light from windows.

After some shoots, then we changed the lens to the Cooke T3.5 10x Zoom with micro force power zoom unit. Also I bring with my Bartech focus system, so that my focus puller, Peanut, can use the remote unit to adjust focus in the whole day. But when we plug on the Zoom lens, we found that there is almost 1.5 stops down then normal exposure. OH...Then my Gaffer, Five Bo, need to lite the area up to about F/8 to F/11 for normal exposure....When in F/8, the Zoom lens is wide open to F/3.5....I am still finding the reason why this problem occurs. but maybe because it is digital senser, so more glass will absorb the light to get through.

Because of so many accessories to add on, so you can see there are so many cables around the camera....when we change mode on the Fisher, we need to deal with so many cables first...and then the camera add with with the Oconner head become very heavy...@_@....thanks, GodFather and Peanut.

My friend, Jackie Chu, someitmes being my second unit or soundman. As sometimes he also as my boss because He also doing Rentals and Crew Services. He want to buy a Red, but still thinking....so I take this photo as he is think about the RED in front of the RED.

It's a good day to work with Red. And hopefully will have more upcoming jobs using Red.
