Few of you were aware that I went to Saudi Arabia more than a month ago. I was quite hesitant of going because I'm just too lazy to travel!
And as we don't know what's going to happen whether you'll have a safe flight or not, I threw a couple of old letters that I have & the others, instead of throwing it, I deliberately erased some names that were mentioned on those letters, on which I did the same with some journals that were required for us to write way back highschool. I do this sometimes even if I'm going out of town, but this time, I went all the way to our other house just to get my things there. Not that there's something to hide, but you don't know what goes on other people's minds. What if I haven't return & someone might go over my stuff? They might conclude a different & exaggerating story.
I did read thatJackie O. did the same during her final days, but in her case, she probably has something to hide.
Before leaving, I came upon these books at a local bookstore. I wanted to get the one with Gustave Dore's illustrations, yet when I got back home I bought the one with Harry Clarke's.
I already have a book of Edgar Allan Poe's poems & tales, thought it would be a waste if I bought the other book just for Dore's illustrations on The Raven. Luckily the other book has Edgar Allan Poe's works that are not included at my other book.
Anyway, its been almost 2weeks since I return home, & I don't know anymore what it is that I should blog about regarding my recent trip to K.S.A. But here's a few though:
1.)Majority of the women in KSA are extremely beautiful. Can't say if they are Saudis as there are so many nationalities that were visiting there at that time.
3.)I can actually live in Saudi Arabia!People there usually go out during the evening. It was Ramadhan when we were there & most of the establishments were open like 24 hours a day! We usually go home around 3:30am. One time, we got lost & had returned home at 6:45am, and people are still out in the market! Don't they even sleep? Oh wait, I should also be asking that to myself!
4.)Just in case an Arab comes & talk to you & assumed you're middle eastern or fluent in the Arabic language, don't worry! Sometimes, all you need is a few Arabic words, a little analyzing & good at reading some Hand gestures! Arabs are fond of hand gestures when they're talking; it's like watching a Latin telenovela.
5.) Smokey eye make-upfor most women there has always been a fad, so kohl cosmetics are widely sold, also nail & hand hennas.
6.) As my aunt said, the policemen there are a little skinny & don't usually carry guns, but people there do know how to respect authority.
7.) 80% of the residence in Jeddah are infested with bed bugs!I didn't even know bed bugs existed until we spent a night at our aunt's house. My sis & I were the only ones who got bitten by the little beasts! Why is that??
8.) Another big seller there is perfumes!! I'm not fond of perfumes, but this one look pretty!
9.) AliveNotDeadis blocked in Saudi Arabia, I wonder why..
Sadly, we didn't go to Riyadh, thus, I didn't walk down memory lane, just as some of my friends & relatives expected.
When I returned home, there were so many people waiting at the house. Just so you know, our way of greeting, saying congratulations, hellos & goodbyes or even I'm sorry is.. BESO (Kiss)! So expect lots of beso here & there.
They bought tons of food & cakes!! I feel like I live in a cake house. For two weeks I get to eat different types of cakes!
Oh, heard the news that Michael Jackson has finally laid to his final resting place, Patrick Swayze passed away & so did Boyzone'sStephen Gately! I can't say if I'm a fan of boyzone, but I do love Ronan Keating & did like some of their songs.
I love Boyzone's version of "Baby Can I Hold You". R.I.P Stephen!
nah, Saudi is pretty okay. Lots of foreigners in Jeddah: Americans & British, they're not very strict there, lots of women there don't even wear the head scarf.
I cant used much eye stuff either as I tend to get eye ulcer often =(
But kohl and mascara have done the trick, plus I don't really dig the HEAVY I just step out of an Arab soap make-up o_o
Have always wondered how those women can carry such heavy make-up without dropping their faces..lol
Yes! I moved to Amirates end of 2007 to work, I lived in Sharjah and Ajman for a while. Life wasnt easy for a working single mother plus it was TOOOOOO complicated with EVERYTHING and I got Ill coz of all that stress so we returned back to Uk after nearly 8months. We still miss it and maybe in the future If I don't get where I want to be I may move there..inshaAllah
They loved yours and your sis sweet blood...lol
That usual happened only to my daughter when we go abroad, bed bugs, lice you name it, she gets it....lool
