"How shall the burial rite be read?

    The solemn song be sung?

The requiem for the loveliest dead,

    That ever died so young?"

    -Edgar Allan Poe-

The other night, I went to watch Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo & Juliet again for the nth time (I saw this film when I was around 4 or 5 years old).

I remember how this movie made me wish to die as young as Juliet.

I don't know, it's not the fear of growing old,

but I can't seem to see myself as someone dying of old age.

     When I was a child,

I would nicely comb my hair & then lie down on my bed,

imagining myself as Juliet while she was being carried at the Capulet's tomb,

Aurora while sleeping at their castle's tower,

or Snow White in her crystal coffin the seven dwarfs made for her.

I may sound weird, but those who die young has the sympathy & woe of many. If you die young, it doesn't matter who you are or what you have achieved, people will still cry for what they believe as an untimely demise.

You're still young. You can still die if you want. This is a great subject, though. I can relate to this, because I'll never want to grow old myself - period. Not in a Peter Pan, "whee I'll be forever young" fruity tights kinda way, but sister, I've seen enough to know that I'd rather off myself young than wait till I'm eating junk through tubes and involuntarily shitting myself in my deathbed. It's fucking pointless! :-/

I want to live old, too.
I think in different period, we'll have more different experiences in our life, no matter good or bad. Our life will be so colorful. :)

Interesting... When I was a child, I thought I would die at 18 (now reading your blog, maybe it was b/c subconsciously I wanted to be "saved" by a 'Prince Charming'. Haha)! Seriously, my bf at that time thought I was morbid... But anyway, here I am now!
Yes, Juliet was soooooo beautiful. :)

i always thought i was gonna die when im 25 too. so i was planning to win the nobel prize when im 20.

but look at me now. im 68 years old and im still kickin.

get urself a motorcycle.. that would ensure an early check out. but if u decide that u dont wanna go yet, challenge death in a game of twister... i know he's fairly weak at that.

I would rather go before my parents.. it's not that Im not scared of dying, knowing that I might die someday scares me sometimes, but living a long life is just hard for me to imagine.

It's hard to say I don't mind being old, but I really don't wanna die young. And I don't want to let my parents sad. It's a torture to see beloved pass away, so I just want to go after my parents.

I hope I live long and be healthy enough to enjoy my future generations. Sometimes though you want to escape the present day misery and ponder death but you know that's not the answer.

I would rather die young too, than stick around and watch those I love pass away !!
    This might sound selfish.
maybe I’m a coward but still brave enough not to fear death ; )

I don't mind being old if I'm not suffering in any way.  I just want to go before my children and husband, I would hate to be alone.
