The 3rd appetizer....enjoy!
Spinach Cheese Swirls
1 package (2 sheets) puff pastry - thawed at room temperature
1 egg beaten in a bowl
1/2 cup shredded Muenster cheese (or Monterey Jack cheese)
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 green onion, chopped
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 package (10 oz. box) frozen chopped spinach - thawed and well drained
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Farenheit. Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet and set aside.
Stir cheese (both), garlic and chopped green onion together in a medium bowl.

We used a plate to mix instead of a medium bowl -- rebels we were!
(Note: Repeat process for each puff pastry sheet!) Unfold puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and brush with the egg mixture.

Layer the cheese mixture on top of the puff pastry and layer with spinach. Make sure you get to the edges with the toppings!

Starting at the short side of the pastry, roll into a log like a jelly roll.

Cut into 1/2 inch slices and place on the parchment covered cookie sheet.

Brush each slice with the remaining egg wash. Remember to get the sides of each slice as well! Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden and puffy. Cool slightly on a cookie sheet and then pick one up and enjoy!
As you can see, we got at least 27 Spinach Cheese Swirls but that's using BOTH sheets of puff pastry.

I was so busy with the next recipe that I forgot to take a pic of the final project! So, this one from the official website will have to do!
We were all oohing and aahing over this recipe. One of the gals suggested trying this recipe with a pesto sauce which sounds wonderful. Also suggested was adding crumbled bacon to the mix. I think this recipe is versitile enough to experiment with, so let your imagination run!
I think this recipe and the 2 previous appetizer recipes (from yesterday and the day before) would be easy enough to make ahead of time and store in the refrigerator until ready to be baked and served at a reception, a party or a family get-together. Just heating up the oven and popping out mouth-watering appetizers in 15 minutes or less is instant gratification and could even impress the pickiest and grumpiest of guests.
Okay...tomorrow's recipe is the reason WHY I wanted to learn these recipes. It's so mouth watering delicious and over-the-top impressive, that you have to learn it, too!
Tune in tomorrow for.....
The Secret Main Course Puff Pastry Recipe that will blow your socks off!!!
