Meet the founder Grace Yow as she gives style tips through an informal fashion presentation.

Grace Yow selects the best of the emerging designers from NY, Paris, London before they get picked up by the mass luxury shops in Hong Kong. So, you know you'll find exclusive pieces, and at a lower price than Lane Crawford would be selling them for. And, her taste is classic, sophisticated and innovative if you are design-minded enough to see the details.

Please join us for a fun evening of bubblies and fashion!

    RSVP is a must

    OFFICIAL RELEASE:

I Shot Hong Kong announces extension of submission deadline.

Hong Kong (April 15, 2009): The chairman of the I Shot Hong Kong Film Festival today announced an extension of the submission deadline to May 14. Submissions were initially due on April 24.

Craig Leeson said the extension was granted after festival organisers received multiple requests from filmmakers for extra time to finish their work.

"We've had a lot of feedback from filmmakers who are entering this year and in order to help them achieve their best work the only option was to accede to their requests for an extension," Leeson said.

The festival will be screened in June, although organizers have not yet set an absolute date for screenings.

An announcement about the extension, plus other news relating to the festival, will be made at a special function to be held at FINDS on April 22, from 9 pm to 11 pm. ISHK Creative Director, Lindsay Robertson, says the event will allow filmmakers, actors, screenwriters, producers, directors and cast and crew to swap anecdotes about their experiences making films for I Shot Hong Kong.

"We have several important announcements to make, including the deadline extension. The social event on April 22 is also very important to the organisers of ISHK because we like to hear feedback from the people who make this festival and that's the filmmakers themselves," she said.

So, bring your friends, your colleagues and your cast to FINDS on April 22 and find out what your competition is doing to shoot Hong Kong.

  • I SHOT HONG KONG 2009 Short Film Festival Stirs Up Debate about Hong Kong Independent Film Industry

    Monday, Feb 23, 2009 5:15PM / Members only

On the evening of  Wednesday, 11 March at 9p.m., the independent short film festival, I Shot Hong Kong, will host a rare panel discussion at LKF Entertainment’s California, featuring three of Hong Kong film industry’s most respected leaders.

The panel discussion will give filmmakers and the public the opportunity to ask questions about independent filmmaking as they prepare their film submissions for the festival.

This event is part of ISHK's 2009 programme and follows the kick-off of this year's submission period, which began on 24 January 2009. Filmmakers may submit entries in either English or Chinese in the categories of short, music video, animation and documentary. The finalist will be chosen by a panel of industry specialists and be shown during a three-day festival in June 2009.

This panel discussion features Shaw Brothers director of business Lloyd Chao, who is credited for launching the biggest names in Hong Kong to Hollywood stardom, Bey Logan, screenwriter, producer and V.P. of Asian Acquisitions & Co-Productions at the Weinstein Company, and cutting-edge director Antony Szeto of Wushu and Dragon Blade fame.

ISHK founder and discussion moderator, Craig Leeson, hopes this discussion will spark the much-needed public debate around Hong Kong's independent filmmaking resources, which he argues are desperately lacking. "Hong Kong is respected globally for producing some of the biggest talent in film history such as Wong Kar Wai, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee and Maggie Cheung. Yet there is such a lack of structural support to help inspired local filmmakers launch their careers. That's why we started the festival," says Leeson, who is also the CEO of Ocean Vista Films, the organizer of ISHK.

ISHK2009-submitting filmmakers will have the opportunity to ask the three panelists practical questions about the city's best resources. This event will also serve as a networking opportunity for other talents, including actors, musicians and producers, to collaborate with ISHK2009 filmmakers. Final submissions for ISH2009 must be received by 24 April, 2009.

This panel discussion is open to the public but RSVP is necessary for entry. Contact sandy@oceanvistafilms.com by 4 March 2009.

    Hey Joyce,

Long time no see. Wanted to let you know that we are organising the first ever HK stage of the 48 Hour Film Project at the end of this month. If you are available join up and have a chance to see your work screened at Cannes.

Otherwise feel free to come along to our drinks evenings to meet other film & tv professionals.

    Cheers,

    Spencer
