Mistaken identity crisis in HK + Skype

So I was on the phone with my buddy Vivek Mahbubani yesterday talking about the AnD party, HK, work. He mentioned he met up with my friend Lydia Kuan at the front door by coincidence which was cool because they knew of each other through AnD and FB.  Of course, Vivek mentioned that he told Lydia that he PWNS me in Cantonese.



So apparently I can get by in HK and pass for a HK Citizen if I wear Bossini or Giordiano clothing, but when they say my American Addidas running shoes, they KNOW I'm an ABC, and that's where Vivek comes in and starts PWNING ME!




So then we talk about how I talk to Lydia, and I said phone and Skype. So I asked him if he had Skype too. He said yes.

So I go look him up by searching for Vivek Mahbubani and I got this:




So I was too tired to notice that it said Viveka until after I sent a request to add with the msg:

Please PWN! me on Skype too...

Then I realize aww crap, that might be someone else because it said Viveka. But then I thought, wait, it could be that he has a fake SN to throw people off because you know there might be some stalker out there trying to look for an Indian comedian with this awesome goatee.

So I had the following chat:




You know I was still thinking it could have been Vivek because he likes to joke around and such so I actually looked up this person on Facebook:




So she is real...and Vivek wasn't messing around with me. Lucky I checked before saying, " Come on Vivek, this isn't funny anymore dude, we both don't have the time for this kind of joke now!"

But you know what are the odds of someone with similar Indian names in Hong Kong?!!!!!!
I know there are about multiple people with my name in HK but I seriously though that Vivek Mahbubani would be the only one in HK....

Good lesson learned...
