• Our Short Film "Kowloon Story" selected as a Finalist at "I Shot Hong Kong"

  Our short film "Kowloon Story" has been officially shortlisted as a Finalist for the "I Shot HongKong" film festival.  It will be screening at the upcoming festival from July 1 - July 5 2009 at The Grand Cinema. 

  The Synopsis: 
  A lonely woman leaves a trail of colorful origami in her struggle against the gray anonymity of a metropolis.

   

  The Cast and Crew:
  Here is the creative team behind "Kowloon Story" (KS)..... from (L-R) Bowman Quock, Jo Jo Yee, Marc Oberdorfer, Juliane Block and Steve Kerr.  Congratulations to our producers German-Malaysian Juliane and German-Hongkongese Marc on this successful collaboration!!!

  

  The Making of ....

  Since Juliane was in Hong Kong for the weekend, she got a team of cast and crew together to shoot this short.  Juliane is one of the most creative and talented people I have met and we met a few years ago when she was casting for a film in Singapore.  Since then we have kept in touch.

  For KS, we wanted to get all the scenes done in a day, so we spent a day wandering through the streets of Hong Kong and Kowloon looking for interesting spots to shoot...... 

     

  With some reasonably good time management, we managed to shoot at about six locations from morning into the evening ....

       

  .... and while we were shooting my scenes..... our Origami-folding-officiate was busy folding away for the next scene  ..... thank you Bowman!

    

  Of course, we occasionally did stop for some fun....or just random photography....

   

  There was also the zero-budget-catering .....  yuuum....

  Just kidding - this was actually a deleted scene from the film... we're not that stingy..... :-)

   

  Congratulations and thanks to all involved!! 

  Also worth a mention is the elderly cleaner (seen below in the green uniform) who works on Pottinger Street, for so generously offering his broom and dustpan which was featured in one of the scenes.  He was our official Sweeping Consultant on set.

  

  "Kowloon Story" was written, directed and produced by independant filmmaker Juliane Block in conjunction with Marc Oberdorfer.
