  i rented a house and invited some friends.
  the highlight was meeting and spending the day with jewelery designer, john hardy, who is a genuine visionary eco-pioneer and DOER. for more, read my blog entry.

  first, apologies for putting these photos completely out of order, chronologically, on the site! anyway, this was the most insane photo shoot of my life. (and, trust me, i've been on a lot of photo shoots in the middle of buttf---!) we actually canceled most of the itinerary after one day of shooting. (we were supposed to drive 22 hours all over xinjiang province, on a shoot originally scheduled to last 4 days.) we were up at 5:30 every morning and shot until at least 8 pm every night. just SOME of the crazy snafus which occurred: canceled flights from beij to urumqi, sandstorms, recalcitrant camels, malfunctioning generators, rain, threats of arrest by park officials. also, did you know that you will slide, hopelessly and endlessly, when standing on the side of sand dune? it was a nightmare when it was happening, but, in retrospect, it was a blast.

  this was my first dinner EVER with rottendoubt and my umpteenth with chris, so it was actually quite a weird occasion. (sam has a lot of special uncles, i must say!) you could say it was a real family dinner!
