first, apologies for putting these photos completely out of order, chronologically, on the site! anyway, this was the most insane photo shoot of my life. (and, trust me, i've been on a lot of photo shoots in the middle of buttf---!) we actually canceled most of the itinerary after one day of shooting. (we were supposed to drive 22 hours all over xinjiang province, on a shoot originally scheduled to last 4 days.) we were up at 5:30 every morning and shot until at least 8 pm every night. just SOME of the crazy snafus which occurred: canceled flights from beij to urumqi, sandstorms, recalcitrant camels, malfunctioning generators, rain, threats of arrest by park officials. also, did you know that you will slide, hopelessly and endlessly, when standing on the side of sand dune? it was a nightmare when it was happening, but, in retrospect, it was a blast.

I wish you'd show and tell more from the Gobi
Desert shoot. Did you get on well with the
    photographer, Eugenio Recuenco?
Did you work on his earlier Shanghai shoot, too?
Very interesting. I love your shot of the equipment around the model - that pose turned out to be the signature shot for the catalogue.
