I wouldnt if I were you I know what she can do Shes deadly man, and she could really rip your world apart Mind over matter The beauty is there but a beast is in the heart
I originally wrote this ridiculously wordy paragraph to put into words my love for a certain band that I feel should be more recognized for their effect on pop music. But it just came out like written doo-doo. SO without further adieu, here is what I think is one of the most influential and best bands to ever come out of Philly and maybe the United States:
HALL AND OATES
Now my AnD friends, I say this without any hint of irony. I think their songs are timeless and the songwriting is unrivaled by any pop band then and now. I don't claim to be a Hall and Oates historian by any means but off the top of my head, I can name four H+O songs that I know the chorus to without ever been old enough to know growing up: Rich GIrl, Maneater, Private Eyes, and Sara Smile. And don't even get me started on the great visual dynamic of H+O, that is a whole other blog.
I can go on for days about this but just check out this video for Maneater. Pay attention, at about 2:34, Oates does a crazy hand over his face thing that totally blows my mind. I wish I knew what it meant. It's probably so deep that my head would explode if I knew the answer. Hall and Oates are fucking geniuses. I'm not worthy.
So I arrived in Hong Kong on Saturday night and since then i've worked the HOODS party on Monday night, had a meeting for work on Tuesday, and now I'm just finishing up some projects for the next issue of THEME (gonna be the best one yet).
I'm currently fighting a battle with jetlag, figuring out how to eat on a budget, and just prepping for work and moving to a more permanent apartment in Wan Chai.
If ANYONE is looking for a roommate or knows someone that is, please let me know and e-mail me at thejasonlam@gmail.com. The apartment I have in Wan Chai is a service apartment and if I can find something better, I will dip out asap!
Some exciting things going on for me, feeling a bit nervous but refreshed and ready to go!!
