• Wenchuan County, Sichuan's 7.8 Earthquake

  The devasating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Wenchuan county, Sichuan Province on May 12th PM 2:00. The death toll rose to 14,866 persons with houses and roads experiencing severe damage. 

  Everywhere, help has been offered to the disaster area.  The night after the earthquake struck, The One Foundation, along with Tencent, Sohu, Taobao, Tianya, and Kongzhong, have begun to work together to collect donations for the victims of this tragedy.  Many families and experert volunteers have joined the efforts and both Tencent and the One Foundation each donated 1,000,000 RMB (2,000,000 RMB total) for the purchase of life-saving materials.  Over the first several hours the personal donations collected through the websites have totaled more than 100,000 RMB.

  The One Foundation, and it's partner websites, are working to "act quickly to increase the hope".  Together they started immediately collecting donations through their websites which are still increasing.  1 + 1 + 1 = 1, the "We are one big family" idea, through the gathering of our family's strength and making small donations in to a larger fund for hope to help victims, has been shown again to work.

  Expert and artist volunteers from the One Foundation have also taken action, donating money and their time to help.  Many assistance projects are being planned and we all hope to offer materials to help the victims of this disaster, as well as raise the human spirit during this difficult time.

  Since the roads are still blocked, we are unable to confirm the results of some of the efforts except for our donations, but the One Foundation will work to keep the news up-to-the-minute.

  This is a battle that we must win.  The One Foundation encourages our entire family to lend a helping hand as soon as possible.  Your hands, connected with the hands of other members of our family, can turn a tiny effort in to a large group's strength.  Let's offer help to the family members affected by this disaster, and give them our courage and support!

  At this time, all donations gathered by the One Foundation and its partners will be distributed to the Red Cross Society fo China's special One Foundation account.  The Deqin Accounting Firm will oversee all use of the money used for the Wenchuan earthquake to ensure that it is used in the most effective way to deal with the earthquake victims directly.
