  • the peak

    Sunday, Jun 22, 2008 1:30PM / /

yesterday was a beautiful day. We went to the Peak instead of the big buddha, but it was just as amazing. Its the most breath taking view of the city, you really can see the whole area of hong kong. I went with Kara, Annelisa, and one of Kara's friends that was in town. We had gone on the best day we could have, the weather was amazing. After taking endless pictures from the top of the building, we walked along this trail that leads the entire way around the top. It reminded me of haiwaii, with thick trees and birds everywhere. It took us about 2 hours, but such a lovly walk, because you cold see both sides of the island, which was neat. I took endless amounts of pictures, and i think i really decided i want to do photography. Like professionally, but not as my job, just a hobbie. I am looking into buying a camera here, because its much cheaper than in the states.

after the peak, we headed home, and i made pasta for me and some of the girls, it was really good then we headed down to central for a bit, and came home.

today is sunday, and again its beautiful, pretty hot. We are headed to the beach, i'm not sure where it is but a group of us is going, so it should be fun. We prob won't stay long, trying to avoid the sun, but i want to go and check it out, see if it compairs to california. sorry this is short, but i have to get ready for some fun in the sun.

  • oh ya i live here

    Saturday, Jun 21, 2008 9:40AM / /

theres a point when you realize your not on vacation on your living here-me

So today (Sat) i woke up at like 730am, and you know what it feels amazing. The sun is in full swing today, and the sky is beautiful when it is. Yesterday again i went and got dinner at my favorite little place, but we took some more people, not like they care if i come everyother day, i'm bringing in the business! But Robin and Annelisa and i went. Poor Robin sleeps on this little couch in the living room, cause he's to tall for his room, literally. His bed touches both ends of the walls and he's longer than both. (so sad) anyways They have a wide variety of food, and it a nice clean place. The walk is not bad either. Its really sad to walk by the seafood shops (holes in the wall) where they have buckets of fish outfront -LIVE- just waiting to be taken in and eaten right then. Ana and i thought about it, and what if the all the fish in there were buddies, and to see your best friend get picked out and killed must be horrifly, but thats prob why i'm vegan. But if i wasn't i'm sure the food here is amazing. They display it in their windows, and they have a variety of birds, pigs, anything, roasted, baked, glazed, anything. On the walk to my favorite place to eat, you have to pass this one food place, thats all displayed in the front, no seats no insides, but they have a popular food here,  pig intestines on a stick, and they look like how they sounds. People eat them like crazy, and they blow the smell onto the street, of everything they have. Its all on a kabab stick, all meats and what not.

Its stilll pretty early here, so i haven't done anything today but take a shower. Everyone in the house is still asleep and i finally can enjoy some peace. Not to complain though, all my flat-mates are really wonderful. Oh one of the coolest things, since hardly anyone in this whole city has a washer and dryer and i have yet to see a laundry mat, there are laundry places all over the place. In which i mean, you take all your dirty clothes and just drop them off, pay by the kilogram (i believe, i did all my darks for 28 HK=around 3 us dollars) and in a couple hours pick it up all folded and nice in a big bag. Its awesome and really cheap since there are so many. So many i can see two just looking down below to the streets. But its awesome, and to think a good portion of the city does this. Or they hand wash their things and hang them out the window, which is common to see, especially in areas thats more old school. THe MTR, i love using the MTR, its my favorite thing here probably. And most everyone just listens to there ipod,as do I. And i always catch myself signing along, not loud, and bobbin my head, haha oh well.

Today our plans are to sight see, the weather is perfect, and everyone has the day off, exept the new American Kara. She came out with us last night after dinner, she's so sweet. She's the girl that came with her mother, but shes a sweatheart, from OHIO!!! If you have seen drew carey you must say it like the...OHIO!!!OO!!! But today our plans are to go see the Big Sitting Buddha and monistary. Its the worlds largest sitty buddha, but we are praying its not going to be crowded. Its prety far from where we live, we'll take the bus (which are just as nice at the mtr, double decker and AC always on) but the bus ride i heard goes through some beautiful areas of town, so i will have some new pictures to put up finally. I keep forgetting my camera, and the girls are usually the ones taking pictures, so i will get them from them. But today i will take some. After Buddha, i'm not sure what we'll be doing.

Oh so we always go to this bar/restaurante ironically called California, and the bottom of california tower, which is just restaurants ontop of restaurants, anyways where i'm going with this is the manager / PR for them, named Lai Lai (looks polynesian, but actually from Holland) cont though she shes a good friend of ours and we eat there for free whenever, and the owner Ben, an extremly nice man, from the States, he owns the tower, so he's pretty set, but he can get you anything you want there. but Lai Lai is planning to meet up with us tonight when she's done with work, prob go with us to Mong Kok, to shop since we didn't yesterday. And on tues she always plans a movie night, where this movie theater is half off on tues. Last tues we saw Narnia, not our choice really, but fun. This tues we are getting all the girlies to see Sex & the City. So cliche, but it will be fun, and we will get dinner.

WELL finally i got some time to write and update. The weekend should be good. And on monday like i said, work and casting. And i hope i get the job for color contacts, what i found weird is though they want me to where brown contacts, i don't mind, but for real? Its supposed to make me look asian, since i look white with the blue eyes, Doesn't matter really, cuz the money is good. but i found it different. Serene (my boss) tells me i work a lot cause i have a good smile, haha, just thought i'd through that out, cause that's the last thing i would think for pictures. I did the Jessica Mag, for skin care products, and contantly smiling, every shoot i do now, SMILE SMILE!!! haha, yay braces!! The pain finally paid off.

ciao from hong kong. good luck california in the heat and gas prices, must be a crazy summer.

ps. i thought of this for the celtics fans

MONEY CAN'T BUY YOU EVERYTHING, BUT IT BOUGHT THE CELTICS A CHAMPIONSHIP.

  • cross your toes,

    Friday, Jun 20, 2008 6:41PM / /

today again was sunny! we're in luck!! haha. Yesterday night i just went and got dinner at my favorite little restaurante down the street, the only reason its my favorite because they know what i want and how i want it made. So they are they best. So just ate there and came back home and hung out with my flat-mates.

Today was a gorgeous day again. The sun was shining all day, and the hunidity was low.  So in the morning Robin and I had the same casting down the mtr, but unfortunately it was cancelled, and we didn't find out until we arrived, but its ok cause we went to this sandwhich place down there, that makes fresh sandwhich and it was good. After that i came back to the flat, and called my dad, g-ma, and tried calling matt (no answer, what a punk), anyways i had a job RIGHT after that for TOUS jewlery (price of all the jewels i wore 15 million US dollars) i was in shock. Look at there website, it was awesome stuff. No work tomorrow, but monday i have a casting for a McDonalds Commercial, i would love to get, and then a job after that for another magazine. I also might get a commerical for color contact lens, i'm crossing my fingers for both, so everyone do the same, and your toes haha. because they pay big!!

Right now i'm just relaxing at home, waiting for Analisa to come over from her job, and i think we are going to Mong Kok to do some nic nak shoppiing and just walking around. Its such an amazing day, i hope the night is the same.

  • oh my sunshine

    Thursday, Jun 19, 2008 5:52PM / /

hey hey today its actually sunny, for more than 10 min, like the entire day. The weather is so amazing, the sky is so blue here when you can actually see it. So my past coulple days have been work and castings. Yesterday i had a casting, then a job in the afternoon. The job was crazy the client and photographer never agreed on lighting, so it was a bunch of sitting in the same position forever, i was definately over it 4 hours in. Thankfully we got the shots, and they turned out cool. Last night Analisa (ca girl) came over and we watched some old movie with Samuel l Jackson, it was allright, mostly just relaxed.

Today i had a job in the morning for a big magazine here called JESSICA, ha. It was beauty shots, and they turned out amazing, but the magazing doesn't come out until Aug issue. But i can't wait to see the finished stuff. Then immeditaly after i went to my casting, which went quick hopefully i get it, its for billboards in the malls here. Then i took the bus home, which was fastest, and went into the agecny to take some snaphshots, to sumbit for a big cataloge. Now i'm just relaxing at home, going to get some food with my flat mates, and prob go out tonight to Central.

    write more later.

  • tuesday morning

    waking up to remodeling.

oh man the apartment directly next to my bedroom is remodeling their whole place, everyday 7days a week, and they are so loud, it sounds like they are removing little pieces of tile from the enitre wall, one by one. it sooooo annoying. and then i preceeded to bang against the wall to find out its solid concrete, and it hurt.

We also got two new flat mates, one boy, named Robyn, from Sweden, but he looks chinese because he's half chinese half polish, and he has to stay in the smallest room ive ever seen. serious it only big enough for a twin bed, and the door the barely closes. And then a new girl is staying in my room from Brazil. She got here last night late, so far she seems nice and she speaks English, thank gosh. Its hard to hear russian and cantoese all the time for real.

Anyways, today is tues morning, and i have a casting at 3pm. Yesterday, i had two castings with Ana, and they took forever, one actually took us three hours, it was insane. So then we came back to the apartment, and it was starting to pour as usual. So then Robyn, Ana and I went to the supermarket to get food, we got paid. So then we walked back, which wasn't that far. Then we made some food and all relaxed.

Lately its just been castings, work, and relaxing, or hanging out with the new people. I am looking forward to going to see the city more. But it has been raining here a lot, which makes it miserable to go anywhere. But today i have a full day planned, After i decided to get up and get ready. Well wish me luck in the rain.

    later this day:

i've returned from my casting, and it is absoulty pouring outside. I am so sad since i have the rest of the day off, and now nothing to do. Is hard to leave the house when you see and hear how bad it is. But later on hopefully i am going to h&m with Ana, and Robin. They are both working right now, so i have been just surfing on line for the past hour. And i have rediscovered my passion for being vegan. And now cannot wait to get home to be able to make all my favorite foods. Yesterday i bought as much as i could with the money they give us, have to save some for the rest of the week. But i got so many nice things again to eat. I've looked up new recipes on YouTube, a great great great website. They show you how to make the easiest thing. (if your bored go to youtube and look up NO RESERVATIONS: HONG KONG, i watch that show and it gives you a great ideas on the food and life here, its really good) well gotta go, i have this bug bite on my leg that is driving me insane!
