Last month,
DJ Wash and
Electronic Mistress of
Kongkrete Bass came to Shenzhen for a slamming DNB party at True Colors 25th floor. Here are a few pictures from the night.

This blog has been inactive for a long time. Sorry about that!
Anyways I come here with a last minute notice about a party in Shenzhen this Friday night, featuring none other than Hong Kong's own DJ Romantic Eddie, a member of the
Robot Underground crew, who is now marking 10 years of putting on electronic/techno events in HK. Check the flier below...
Click here for more info about the party.
Now, 4/4 techno is not my usual steez, but there's something special about Detroit, Deep House, and Minimal that draw me in. It's a rare occasion to do a party like this, hence very exciting.
Peace!

Chris Lay is my good friend who used to live in Shenzhen. He recently moved to Beijing and graciously hosted me during the Olympics. We went out shooting together a lot, and here are a few pictures...

On the way to a handball match at the Olympic National Stadium (not the Bird's Nest)

In the elevator on a fruitless attempt to reach find a roof to take pictures from.

At the Microsoft Olympic Center where his wife works.

At the Olympic Green in front of the Water Cube.

Posing for the camera while watching the opening ceremony at the Worker's Stadium.

On our quest to find scalper tickets for a cheap price.

On Wangfujing Shopping Street.

Being interviewed by a French journalist at 798 art district.

Ahhhhhh!

Ladies man...
Thanks for the hospitality, Chris!

Drum n' Bass (aka Jungle) is a kind of music that I've loved deeply ever since I first heard it as a sophomore in college in 2001. It's easy to find various techno and hip hop music in Shenzhen nightclubs, but not DnB. Since there is no DnB scene to speak of, I decided to start one.
Beginning in July on my birthday, I got my friend
DJ TKO (14 year Shenzhen resident and DJ) to play a set at True Colors with Mafio, the resident DJ there, and another friend Graham.
Mafio designed a nice flier but he stuck my big head on there against my will:

TKO played a great set using 10 year old vinyl that he hadn't played in a long time:

The party was fantastic. Many thanks to all the friends and DnB fans who came out to support!

While in Beijing I got a press pass to a Julian Marley concert and after party, and it was a blast! Here are a few pictures:

...and here is my
review of the concert in the news!
