  • Braces

    Sunday, Nov 8, 2009 1:26AM / Standard Entry

Finally after much procrastination and delay, I've gotten rid of my teeth and now getting ready for my braces.

I initially wanted to do a jaw reconstruction surgery to correct my underbite. It's pretty pricey and Dad wasn't too happy that I'd have to go through full anesthetics so had that idea off my mind. I went to a local orthodontist today and got a second opinion.

She was a nice lady. Gave me various options and told me to consider them carefully. I told her that the previous doctors were pretty determined that not only my underbite can't be fixed with braces, it'll worsen the condition as my current bottom teeth are slightly slanted backwards. Straightening them with braces will only widen the gap between the top and the bottom.

Dr.Wong, my orthodontist, took my x-rays and explained the scenario to me. She too agreed that braces can't do much to my underbite as my jaw is slightly long but convinced me that the gap will not be worsened with braces. Furthermore, my current goal is to have all my teeth straightened first. I have pretty much accepted the fact that I can't correct my underbite. I shall be the Asian Keira Knightley. ROFL!

She studied my x-rays, explained the process that I'd need to go through and the time span. I'd need to remove 2 lower teeth and insert seperators during the next appointment. I couldn't wait any longer. I told her I wanted it done today. So there! I have both my teeth extracted, seperators attached and on the 19th, I shall be glueing the braces on. What color should I opt for?

It was a horrifying experience really, extracting the teeth. Not the pain, surprisingly. The entire process was PAINLESS. He sprayed some liquid on my gum to numb it and about 10 minutes later, injected the anesthetics. He was really, really gentle. I felt nothing at all. . Then, I saw him lifting the spanar like equipment and started putting force, A LOT OF IT, to get the whole teeth out. Still no pain but the sound of it getting looser and finally cracking out of my gum is awful. And then he went on to the next tooth. Did the same, still no pain. Hmm.

Drove home, started drooling cause I had 2 HUGEEEE gauzes in my mouth. My lips were numb so I couldn't feel them dripping on my bed where I was sprawled watching TV. Looked down a minute later and found blood and saliva all over. .

About 2 hours later, I thought it should've dried up. I wasn't salivating so much anymore so I removed the gauze and wanted to take my bath. WRONG MOVE. Felt warm blood on my tongue instantly then down my throat. GROSS. I'm so not vampire quality . Head went spinning within a snap and all I could do was wrap myself in my towel and rushed into my parents room. Laid on their bed, WET. Mom had to dry me up and cover me with a comforter. . Parents were kinda shocked until they knew I got a taste of my own blood and started laughing. FYI, I'm a qualified first-aider. EPIC FAIL!!!

The pain's still there now. Not throbbing but...definitely annoying. Can't wait to put have the braces on. This year's birthday will be spent eating congee.

    Now, now...where's the tooth fairy?!

  • Happy Halloween!!!

    Sunday, Nov 1, 2009 2:57AM / Standard Entry

I spent my Halloween watching All American Rejects. The 90 minute set was PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The crowd was awesome and I can't feel my legs now.

How did you spend your Halloween?

    ---------------

A friend of mine randomly sent me this video on youtube. Turned out to be the self-recorded demo I did about a year back to be sent to Clayton Cheung. . I never sent him these 2 though. He wanted an English and Mandarin version and I gave him a Sandy Lam and Fergie song eventually. . But it's really funny to listen back this 2 copies. I barely recognize myself.

Want some Halloween horror? There...listen to the songs below. ROFL.

  • WOOZA!

    Hey ya’ll!!!

    It’s been a while really.

Work’s good! I’m trying not to jinx myself now but the boss I’m currently working for is totally cool. She might have wonky moments but compared to the previous…sprite…Ok I’m mean but oh well…I’m working pretty well with the current lady. I’m given loads of room to express my thoughts and write and most importantly, we’re all encouraged to leave at 6. ON THE DOT. ROFL! I’m still trying to get used to leaving at 6pm. *grins*

I spend a lot of time dreaming while driving routinely to work daily. Probably due to the sudden change of working hours (work starts at 9am SHARP and everyone’s in the office punctually), I’m partially stoned throughout the 30 minute drive. Out of absurd randomness, it suddenly occurred to me that I have a weird tongue. The parents can NEVER understand why I eat a certain food or opt for exotic sounding drinks. It’s not in the traditional Chinese genes obviously. They crave for rice after going free of it for less than 2 days. LMAO.

    Let’s see what’s weird that…I really like:

    1) Peanut Butter Tomato sandwich

    2) Coke + Evaporated Milk

    3) Instant noodles + Cookies

    4) Steamed fish + lemon juice

    5) Overnight cold cereals (medicinal purposes, they help lower blood pressure. PROVEN TO WORK!)

Okay I’d better stop there first.

    What’s your weird food combo?

Jac and Pammy have been blogging about their fashion favs a while ago and here’s my fetish…something I just got about a month back. LUVS.
