Perfume Genius’s “Rusty Chains” is “a song for a man whose lover has died. He remembers a time, before his partner took sick, where everything felt safe and endless. He asks to be taken next, so they can be together again.”

  • Chiha Gregory

    Tuesday, Apr 10, 2012 1:31PM / Members only

French artist Chiha Gregory creates stunning yet strange oil painting. Using detailed landscapes and interiors to serve as backdrops for the focal figures, the work resounds with a kinetic energy explored through the use of paint application. The blurred figures are portrayed with slashes of bright color, distorting their features and creating an unsettling tone to the work. View more images below. – Via Hi-Fructose

  • East West Connect

    Saturday, Mar 24, 2012 7:38PM / Members only

Above Second in hosted Arrested Motion’s first curatorial project, East West Connect, with a lineup that represented the diverse selection of art we love and cover for you every day. It was gratifying to see that art fans in HK appreciated this type of art as well, evidenced by the turnout and the fact that most pieces that sold so far have found homes with local collectors. We also enjoyed some interesting discussions with attendees on the idea and theme of the show which certainly struck a chord as in essence Hong Kong and its residents, because the history of the city-state, is a melting pot of East and West influences.

Above Second and Arrested Motion want to thank the artists – Luke Chueh, Faile, Shepard Fairey, Evah Fan, Stella Im Hultberg, Tat Ito, Akino Kondoh, Travis Louie, Tomokazu Matsuyama, Brendan Monroe, Edwin Ushiro, Nick Walker, and Yoskay Yamamoto for their contributions.
