Description

  •

JEANNE HARTMAN, Hollywood acting coach to professional actors for over 20 years and author of The Right Questions for Actors, returns to Hong Kong at the end of May to bring her expertise in her intensive, all-day acting workshops.

Ms. Hartman teaches the craft of acting using The Group Theater Stanislavski philosophy. This group became the “Legends in American Theater” which included such pioneers as Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Elia Kazan, Barbara Loden, Clifford Odets, Sanford Meisner and Robert Lewis, which in turn led to the Actors Studio where actors from Marlon Brando to Robert De Niro studied. Ms. Hartman teaches preparation for film and television acting learned from her work with Mark Travis and Lawrence Parke.  Her performance studies at Juilliard and theater training with Herbert Bergdorf add to Ms. Hartman’s ability to discover the techniques best suited to each student.

    *SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT*

Jeanne Hartman and co-producer, Jason Tobin, are announcing the addition of a Master Class - The Director's Lab.  Both Jeanne and Jason want to support and encourage filmmakers in Hong Kong.

Ms. Hartman explains, “I want to offer to directors and actors who take my Pro Workshops an opportunity to learn how to give direction to create exciting, believable performances and do it quickly!”

Ms. Hartman says,  “Directors ask me what I said to an actor to get the desired result in my workshops so I want to help them learn how to do that themselves.  I believe that directors who have actually taken my 2-day Acting Workshop have “walked in the shoes of the actor” can direct actors better.  Now I want them to have the opportunity to practice what they have learned as an actor but now as a director.”

The Director’s Lab will be held on June 6th 2010.  For more details please see below.

    Testimonials:

“These past two days working with Jeanne Hartman was a wonderful experience. When you have the tools Jeanne gave us, it will definitely make you more confident when attacking a difficult scene or even an audition.”  Andrew Lin

“JEANNE!  YOU ROCK! Jeannie's teaching was so accurate, this class has given me lots of answers to my questions for so long in my acting career. This was a very important lesson for me, it's shown me the right mindset on acting and script acknowledgement and so much.  I'm so excited about my next film project which will start shooting in a week, I think I'll do so much better!” Josie Ho

“It was a great time experimenting as well as watching my other classmates work as well. It's kind of like a good personal training session at the gym for actors.  It's not often that actors in Hong Kong get a chance to attend things like these. Even if you aren't thinking about being a professional actor this workshop can help you with other things like public speaking and boosting your confidence and it's a whole lot of fun too!”  Daniel Wu

“I am really happy I took part in this course and would recommend this course to anyone who is interested to learn more about acting.  Jeanne is a wonderful teacher and it is obvious to me that she teaches acting in a way that empowers you to have more confidence in the choice you make for your performance. There are not many good acting teachers in Hong Kong, and to be able to work with a coach of Jeanne's caliber in Hong Kong is a rare opportunity.”  Terence Yin

“I am still feeling the BUZZ from the acting workshop taught by master acting coach Jeanne Hartman. Jeanne was knowledgeable, incredibly insightful and inspirational. She made us realise that we all have our unique styles and there are always ways to look at a scene differently and things we can do to OWN the scene and make it OURS with certain 'tools' and 'secrets'. THANK YOU so MUCH Jeanne, for being so amazingly supportive and so willing to show us what is possible in each of us as actors. I will always treasure this class and the inspiration it has given me. I will take what I have learnt and power it into my future works. Only wish you had more time in HK to keep coaching us!!!”  Grace Huang

“Thank you Jeanne !!!! You know you're amazing don't you? That you have some special powers to give people SECRETS we don't even know we have.”  Race Wong

“Whether you have already had some acting training or none at all, Jeanne will teach you fundamental principles upon which to build a solid technique. I had such a fabulous time working on scenes with all my fellow actors. It was such a great learning experience to have my work critiqued by Jeanne "in the open" and given "trial and error" to approach the scene with different points of view, aspect, emotion, purpose, finding the potholes, methods and the "secret".”  Rosanne Wong

“Jeanne helped me re-discover myself ! Life is all about acting.....acting is living....”  Jun Kung
