Jason Chang was born and educated in London, England. After graduating from University College, London with a BSc in Physiology in 2000. Jason decided to move to Hong Kong where he began a modeling career and taught English for two years.
In 2002 he moved to Taipei, Taiwan where he undertook a three month Chinese language course at the National Taiwan Normal University. During the resulted four years in Taiwan he built himself an acting career in Film and Television which was all proceeded by commercials, music videos and print ads.
Jason made his feature film debut in 2004 by landing a role in Formula 17. This whimsical gay film was greatly received by the Taiwan public and it went on to become the highest grossing film of the year. This opened up new possibilities for commercial film in Taiwan.
The following year Jason stepped up to his first leading role in a film called the Heirloom. The film was a thriller about a family curse left behind by the Taoist practise of maintaining an infantile spirit in the household. The film became a huge overnight success in Taiwan, which went on to become the highest grossing film of 2005. Jason's performance in the film was emotionally charged, making audiences notice that he is a bright new talent to look for in the future.
Due to his stay in the different countries mentioned, he is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English being his mother tongue.
Jason Chang, 1979年7月16日出生於倫敦。2000年獲得倫敦大學生理學學士學位後，他移居香港，在那裏做了兩年的模特和英語教師。2002年他移居臺北，在臺灣師大學習三個月國語後，開始了四年的演藝生涯，包括電影、電視劇、MV以及商業廣告。
《17歲的天空》是Jason 的處女作。在影片中他扮演一個性格古怪的同性戀者，因為出色的表演，他受到了臺灣觀眾的認可和喜愛，這部影片成為該年臺灣最上座的電影。這部影片的成功也給他在臺灣的演藝事業帶來了更多的機會。在接下來的一年裏，他主演了電影《宅變》，一部講述道教養小鬼的恐怖電影。這部電影在臺灣一夜成名，再次成為當年臺灣最上座的電影。Jason 在這部影片中的表演充滿了激情，讓觀眾看到他是一個充滿希望的明日之星。
由於Jason 有在不同國家的生活經歷，除了英語母語外，他還可以講流利的國語和粵語。
